That's very defeatist! Have you watched the Planners on the BBC? Gives a great insight in to how it works and how they think.

Skylines development kicked out again by council
-- Link to Wharf article -- Councillors rejected the chance to overturn their decision on the 50-storey Skylines development on the Isle of Dogs. The scheme was turned down on the grounds of height and density. Developers can now lodge an appeal or hope London Mayor Boris Johnson steps in to overall (sic) the council. In January, Tower Hamlets' strategic development committee turned down the scheme, mainly as it exceeded the density guidelines in the London Plan. On Wednesday night it met to go over the legality of the reasons for rejection. It stuck to its guns despite the council's planning department continue (sic) to back the proposal. Officer Pete Smith said Skylines should be seen as an 'exceptional circumstance' allowed under the London Plan regulations. "This is an important place on the corner of Limeharbour and Marshwall and is moving away from the low scale scheme currently there," he said. "This is place-making, mixed-use, good quality accommodation." The developer had also made minor changes to the scheme including increasingthe children's play area and offering office space for a drug and alcohol action team. The committee said the changes were not enough It also did not agree with the officer's views and saw the 764 units as over-development. Councillor Carlo Gibbs said: "The amendments are minimal and what my major concern is is the size and impact. There's significant impact on adjacent properties. It's so tall and so dense." At the same meeting, councillors also rejected plans for a 22-storey building in the heart of Poplar. They said the scheme at Chrisp Street was too tall, had poor levels of affordable housing and too many studio flats. The committee voted four to none against the proposal with one abstention.

These people are not simply worthless. They are in fact harmful for London.
Lets hope Boris deals with this accordingly. |

Sorry but the 22 story for Poplar was horrid looking (http://www.wharf.co.uk/2013/03/propo...y-tower-i.html)
AS for this one well. I rather have the density here that spreading too far down the isle where the transport options are fewer.

Good news about the scheme in Poplar. It was nasty.
Inexplicable about Skylines though.

Again tower hamlets are proving to be not worthy of the isle of dogs or its potential.

Dont all be too negative. The mayor has a good record on overturning decisions such as this. If he think its advantageous electorally, he'll do it. And from the impression i get, people generally want more infrastructure like this in London...so stop being so British and stay positive.
