Does anyone know what that white light is atop HCT, between the two red aircraft warning lights?

It was. However, panels fell over and onto the main road in front, so they have had to take every panel off and redo it all, which they are doing at the moment.

Here are the fallen off panels to the left of the back:

The beetham organisation are facing legal action because of the falling panels. I think BCC are taking them to court because a major part of the city centre had to be closed.

They'll just pass all the costs on to Laing O'Rourke.

The back of this tower has grown on me. Driving along the M6 then down the M5 last night, I think I saw that this tower was illuminated at the top now. I only had a brief glimpse, I may be wrong.

I thought it was ..... but looking over my left shoulder across Sandwell Valley at 80mph down the M5 didn't give me much time to take a lot in!

From some angles it looks quite short and stumpy because the back looks so wide. But I have always likes the back.

What's the occupancy of HCT like at the moment...have folk moved into their apartments and is the Radisson always near full? I was wondering if it's worth attempting a night shot of the tower sometime soon. It won't really be worth it if there's no one in there turning on their lights at night.

They are still doing the interiors and release date is set for September so i reckon November will be the time to do a night shoot.

Is it sold out yet ?

It's not far off, there are still a few shared ownership apartments left and i recently saw a 2 bedroomed one on ebay for £250.000 starting bid. This was on the rear of the tower giving it views over the city center. [but then i spotted a nice little shed and decided to bid for that this time around ]

As mentioned in the Orion thread, this is the first time I've seen a complete Beetham for my own eyes.

I know, I know, those pictures are pretty poor, it was raining though.

As for the building, the front is magnificent while the back is just as good. Some of the surrounding lowrise buildings though are really bad. They look really tatty and I didn't feel all that comfortable cracking out the camera and taking photo's. One final thought about City Centre Tower, I used to hate this building, but when looking at it from the streets below, it looked really impressive.
