Some say it will be launched in May, but i don't think that will happen in near future because it has been delayed for many times now.

MODENAS National Motorcycles Company

was established in tandem with Malaysia's efforts to achieve industrialized nation status, now ubiquitously known as Vision 2020. MODENAS spearheads the technology transfer and development of motorcycle manufacturing, to eventually enable the country to proudly produce indigenous motorcycles. Although the vision will not be realised within a short time span, it is a strongly-held conviction that Malaysia will one day become one of the formidable manufacturers of motorcycles for worldwide distribution.

I like the proton 'Savvy'.Funky looking and practical.Aren't Proton cars rebadged Mitsubishi's and Perodua cars rebadged Daihatsu's?.The funky designs of the Perodua cars are similar to Daihatsu's.Here's wishing the Malaysian car industry the very best!!

Nope. Mitsubishi no longer have a stake in Proton. Since Proton Waja, all Proton cars are self-designed and equiped with the Lotus technology. Perodua cars are still rebadged Daihatsu's except for some minor alterations to fit the local market.

PROTON, Petronas in Engine Alliance

KUALA LUMPUR, - Proton Holdings Berhad and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) will jointly develop larger engines and environmentally friendly alternative fuel systems for use by Malaysia's national automaker.
The memorandum of intent (MOI) will see both parties collaborate and explore the possibilities of further developing Petronas' engines, particularly the compatibility of its E01 engine to Proton's motor vehicles, and the subsequent potential commercialization of the engine.

In addition, the collaboration will also see Proton and Petronas working together in developing a Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) system for Proton's use.

According to Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohd Tahir, managing director of Proton, the collaboration is very beneficial as it meets the objectives of both parties.

"The partnership will fulfill Petronas' desire to further embark on the development and commercialization of the E01 engine technology, and for Proton, we get to introduce a larger engine capacity of between 1.8 to 2.2 liters and an environmentally friendly vehicle in our future cars."
"This is a significant partnership, as it is the collaboration between two GLCs to leapfrog in technology via the sharing of our resources and knowledge."
"Proton will be able to tap into Petronas' ready-to-use engine technology capacity in the most cost efficient manner and within the shortest timeframe possible."

"It also allows us to further strengthen Malaysia's capability in the auto arena."
"In the competitive global market, Petronas' intellectual property in the EO1 engine will go a long way in contributing to Proton's innovation and new product line-up," added Syed Zainal.
