And so is Sean Connery. Famous doesn't automatically equal shite.

I think you'll find the Bellagio is famous because it's good.

Imagine this at EQ. Wait until it gets going in the second half:

Yes. It doesn't automatically equal anything.

Las Vegas water fountains in the swan would be equal parts tacky and great.

Apparently around 2007 the makers of the Bellagio fountains offered to gift some to Perth for free as the first of their kind in the southern hemisphere, but nobody at government would commit to it.

A fail to see how fountains that can be programmed is kitsch. Some things are just universally good to look at. The movement of water is a good thing. You're focusing on the Las vegas aspect of it.

Perhaps a 200m tall fountain at the centre would be something unique and not so "common". Push it further into the centre of the river and have it on and off at periodic times.

It's not going to happen. Inlet works are nearly complete. These sorts of things need all kinds of pumping systems and subsurface bits which I can't see being retrofitted.

If they gave the idea any serious thought the prospect of tourists being sprayed with the Swan's rancid water would rule it out pretty quick, anyway.

And I don't know if Kim Hames missed the memo but 80% of Station park is going to be a led-lit, programmable, interactive water feature.

This is true.

The most I could see happening would be water spray, from jets retro fitted to the side) with lasers on the misted area, very much like the Singapore one, rather than the dancing fountains of Bellagio.

You can see the subsurface elemts in this photo, clearly incompatible with boats.

Is that accurate? The company who designed them has built hundreds fountains around the world since the 1980s. It doesn't seem right that they would offer to build fountains in Perth for free?

There was some random who got media attention in 2007 for proposing a fountain but it certainly wasn't free.
