Sorry to say Mobus there were a lot of crap buildings that luckily also got knocked down and some of the best that were retained.
I just wish we would get a government that had the balls to finish Flinders Street Station and the our wonderful Parliarment building to the original designs.

Melbourne today in almost unrecognizable compared to even 30 years ago let alone the 1950s and 60s

I'm obviously talking about the ones that weren't so crappy. Finks, Prell's, Fish Markets, APA Australia Building, Coffee Palace... I just don't buy the argument that the best survived. Sure, SOME of it did, but too much was desecrated.

Anyway, I entirely agree with completing the Parliament House, specifically by building the dome, but you'd have a hard time convincing frugal Victorian taxpayers about such a cause. No, there's not much interest in pouring public money into finalising the architectural landscape of our city. People just see dollar signs.

Sorry guys, no information about these photos. They're also not coming out as clear as the originals for some reason.

Wow. Taken before I was born. This angle has not changed much. Some areas of Melbourne are unrecognisable. Some don't even look like Melbourne. Looking at the pic above and a recent shot you wouldn't realise how much the city has changed.

I cannot find renders of the new metro station entrance. Are they still going to demolish all those buildings? The lack of renders concerns me.

I took this picture in November, Young and Jackson's looks better now.

The old radio tower in the background has gone which is a shame.

Perhaps because it hasn't been designed and the station won't open for YEARS.

This is the 70's style design for the station
