they wouldn't build em if there wasn't demand. as of may 10, the constellation currently shows 34 units left for lease out of 220. the building won't open until august. i think that's telling.

I am really getting sick of this whole preserving views argument. I understand and respect the capital view preservation, the capital building it what defines Madison and makes it unique. To use the argument that the views of the Lamp House need to be preserved are just ludicrous. Based on the pictures I have seen, the house doesn't look like it has been maintained very well. I understand that it has "historical significance" but I really wouldn't feel that bad if a crane "accidentally" took it out. Given the fact that it is sitting in the middle of the block, the present views really can't be all that great.

It's always great to hear how significant something is right before it or it's surroundings in this instance, is about to be altered with or taken down. I guarantee no one was going to touch the 100 block of State Street until Frautschi and Rowland decided they had other plans for it. Same probably goes for the Lamp House. No one even knew it was there until now.

Sure hope that both these projects move forward without too much hassle.

If they are so up in arms about the Lamp House, then why don't they form a volunteer committee to upkeep the house and then turn it into the centerpiece of a park or courtyard in the middle of the block? Then it turns it into something special that people might go out of their way to see. Maybe there could be shops on the inside ring of the block? Kind of like a hidden outdoor mall.
