Looks pretty 'flat iron' to me without ripping it off. It's a triangular tower with a triangular base..

To me the shape perfectly reflects the tiny little sliver of pie shaped lot. A curvaceous building on this would be hard to achieve, and someone artificial:

I disagree. They fell short of what they could have accomplished on that lot with a little more creativity and effort. I do like this building, but it does leave me with a 'what could have been' feeling every time I look at it.Quote:
A gradual tapering of the point east and a flaring out of the 'point' as it did so would have solved that issue, created a dramatic looking building, and been true to the 'flat iron' shape of its lot. In the age of computer generated design and huge jumps in technological know how, it's disappointing that these architects still haven't embraced the changes and progress made in their field. This site was begging for something fun, but they couldn't see passed their entrenched views of what a building is supposed to look like. In essence they stuck a traditional building on a lot that called out for a modernist solution. This did go back to the drawing board because the developer wanted a landmark building. That kind of opportunity doesn't land on an architect's desk too often. They started out well, but gave up after the podium. Honestly this was their chance to do something wonderful, but they don't seem to be up to the task.
