CHICAGO | Riverline Development | 7 acres | 2700 units

This is immediately north of this.

Article is from a couple months ago, but ...

Crews to Ready Massive Multi-Phase Riverline Site for Construction
Quote:
Perhaps Chicago’s most significant project in recent memory, the Riverline development is creeping towards reality as crews prepare the empty 7-acre site for future construction. As approved last year, the transformative master plan calls for the phased construction of five mixed-use highrise buildings along the east bank of the Chicago River between Harrison and Roosevelt. When completed, it will include 16,500 square feet of retail and 2,699 private dwellings spread across a collection of apartments, condo units, and townhomes.

Despite temporary delay, riverfront mega-project hopes to break ground this fall
Quote:
While work to fence-off and grade the future site of the multi-phase Riverline mega-development back in March was initially interpreted as a sign of imminent construction, little since has occurred at the vacant South Loop parcel. However, thanks to a recent update from Sloopin, the lack activity is no longer a source of head-scratching and wild speculation. According to an email shared from a neighboring building, it appears that the project is facing a temporary delay due to a hold-up in the city of Chicago’s bond process.

And it looks even closer to breaking ground now.

Workers are preparing to dig in on mega-development for the South Loop
Quote:
Not only is the Riverline mega-development for the South Loop moving forward, but all of the pieces appear to be in place for its groundbreaking ceremony and for the construction of the first tower for the 14 acre site. The official groundbreaking ceremony will take place in mid-September, but workers have been cleared by the city to go ahead and get started at any point now that a foundation permit has been issued. The permit is for the 27-story building at 720 S. Wells which will feature 452 residences and 246 parking spaces when it is completed. Ultimately, 3,600 total residences are being planned for the project, which was drawn out by Perkins+Will. In addition, the new project will see the creation of a new 3.5 acre riverfront park.

The riverline developmemt is good for the development of future projects like it in the same area. Too bad they couldn't be a little bit taller like how I would usually like them. Lovin it
