hmmm... Bangkok's skyline ofcourse bigger than Jakarta's but with Manila?? I'm sure Jakarta has bigger skyline than Metro Manila, it's been a topic so far that Jakarta's skyline is spread all over the city right from Center and North to South and from West to East Jakarta that make it imposible to take it on one single picture unlike Bangkok or Kl.

About size i don't know. But Jakarta's building is nicer than in BKK.

BKK is so spreading as Jakarta too.

Jakarta Metro has a little bit bigger than Metro Manila

For the skyline, Manila has a little bit better than Jakarta did at this moment. Maybe for both cities have tied for a couple of years in Skyline. Now, depend on Emporis resources, Jakarta has more highrise building points then Manila.

For skyline pictures why Jakarta doesn't look dense, besides Jakarta's skyline spread over from every sides, it is because Jakarta's buildings are not located densely compared with other Asians cities, because of our Urban Design, we still put many green area around one building and another reason is it still has many residential houses in CBD area.

However from lots of Indonesian highrise projects, Jakarta has 55%-65% projects from it and it will change Jakarta Skyline Face

I can't believe I gave this city 8/10, how naive I must've been. It deserves no more than 6/10.

yeah when I first saw jakarta's skyline I didn't like it much, then later on I realized that it's impossible to judge the city's entire skyline but just one single pic. I honestly like how its spread out, most centralized skylines never really appealed to me.
really is a beautiful city...but I haven't really seen any public transportation (like rail) in many pics.

I mean the whole jakarta skyline is not dense compared to some business districts of bangkok and metro manila..

and yeah, I agreed with u.. Jakarta's urban centers are spread out all over the city (and separated quite far one to another). I think because of that condition, Jakarta's skyline doesn't look like Manila or any other cities which has concentrated and densed highrises.

lolz its cuz the public transportation itself sucks... I went on one of those cheap trains in indonesia.. the one's that cost like 10c.. it was so bad.. i felt like i was gonna die of suffocation. it stunk so bad ewww..
Busway transjakarta is not better either. we have to wait for half an hour to have another transjakarta comes..
Man they really need to fix the public transportation..

tell me mate, what do you expect from a city with an average salary of its citizen is only $250-300 per month? sorry to say, but the truth is Indonesia still a developing country, we are not developed yet.

and for your information, rodrigo, our public transportation is not that bad. Well i dont care about your bad experience, who cares anyway? But, a bunch of experts from The Economist Intelligence Unit give you this fact :

EIU

can you see that? Jakarta ranks average in the transport category. and its better than Bangkok, Manila or Hanoi. you has rated Jakarta 6/10. Its ok, but you need not to say bad about this city, it would not change its skyline. i hope there is no more hater in this thread

Cool.., atleast Thai govt do sumthin in public transport matter...

Bangkok already gain advantage by their subway and Jakarta willy nilly have to follow the path. The traffic jam is so unbearable now. By creating more comfort public transportaion will benefit for all citizen by reducing idle hours in the street, reduce significantly personal vehicle in the road, automaticaly increase efficiency of workers (less time in the road), reduce pollution, more time with family, less money spend for health care bcoz less hectic in the road etc..etc..

As a matter of fact, Jakarta govt discard the monorail project and MRT is in jeopardy since Japan is the main sponsor of this project. With them being hit by recent Tsunami and Quake.., well...

It has nothing to do with the salary of its citizen, it's all about poor management of the city ..

Take Manila, for example. The ci
ty doesn't seem so different than Jakarta, ie. polluted, over-populated, etc. But, it has quite an efficient and fast MRT system. Although it's not that easy to transfer from one line to the other (sometimes you have to walk and walk and walk), but the trains're clean. Since the security level's pretty high (albeit all the checks..), it's quite a joy to use the facility.

If Manila could do it, why not Jakarta?

Look! Im not hater.. Instead I love this country since there's indo blood in my veins.. Im really not a dinky di Indo who cant bear to have his country criticised.. No offense, man. I wish this city all the best, though.
