I'm more interested in the 1,400,000 that doesn't include routes with the US.

Yep! Good numbers for Toronto Pearson too. 8.7% growth for the year and over 12% for the month are very strong figures

If you're referring to Pearson the international traffic (US excluded) went up by 18.1% to 1,400,229. US airports don't have the benefit of a huge affluent population right next door. Canadian and European airports do. This effects international passenger numbers a great deal.

To get a fairer apples to apples international passenger number comparison with US airports, European airports would have to negate all traffic to/from other European countries, Canadian airports would have to negate all traffic to/from the US, and US airports would have to negate all traffic to/from Canada.

What would LAX international passenger numbers be negating Canadian traffic? In 2006 Canadian traffic was roughly 3% of total traffic. If that % stayed the same it would work out to ~ 200,000 passengers for April 2017. I imagine LAX would be ahead of Pearson.... but not by too much. Perhaps 1.8 million vs 1.4 million?

Spanish data of May 2017 has been released for most of its airports, including all the important one (+1M pax per year):

http://www.aena.es/csee/ccurl/180/18..._Mayo_2017.pdf

MAD: +5,4%
BCN: +6,8%
Average growth of all: +7,4%

Its uncertain if MAD will achieve a new record this year, since it has had 51.86M pax in the last 12 months, while the record (made in 2008) is 53.32M, the record will be close at the end of 2017.
BCN (as most of the spanish major airports) has been breaking records since nearly 4 years ago, and is still growing.
Higher growths are in coastal non-island airports (Málaga AGP, Alicante ALC, Valencia VLC) and some of the islands.

"Passenger numbers continue to soar at Manchester Airport"

More than 2.5m people jetted off from Manchester Airport in May meaning 26,795,288 have now passed through its three terminals in the last 12 months. With the start of half term and a number of airlines launching new routes, it was the airport’s busiest May on record. Oman Air launched its daily service to Muscat meaning there are now up to 12 flights a day to the Middle East direct from Manchester Airport. As well as connecting the North to Muscat, Oman Air also offers incredible onward connectivity across Asia and beyond

Hi guys, sorry for delays, hopefully following charts will make your mood better

April was an incredible month in case of growth! Not only we saw double digit growth of Europe and Middle East, but all other continents experienced passenger increase.Despite the enormous numbers only one airport broke new monthly record - TPE. Lets have a look on that!

In April, most of the airports grew positively except two major airports – PEK and ATL. About ATL I am not sure what caused the reduction but about PEK its straight forward: „The work on the middle runway was carried out from April 2 to April 29, about 40 per cent of the airport’s traffic was cut, about 300 flights a day, reduced the total number of flights to about 1,400.“

Strongest performer was KUL, and according to MAHB, KUL current growth is due to the visa relaxation for India and China, favorable exchange rates for tourists, competitive fares as well as increasing travelling population and sufficient seat capacity by airlines. Part of the growth is also due to the recovery from large capacity cuts by Malaysia Airlines in 2014 and 2015. It expects the current growth for KUL to continue for the first half of 2017 but the second half may see a slightly reduced single-digit growth.

In previous months we could see ICN perform very well, however situation has changed and the traffic growth went to single digit numbers. The sharp decrease in passenger numbers is attributed to the implementation of a travel ban to Korea imposed by Beijing over disputes regarding the installment of an American anti-missile system on the Korean Peninsula.

FRA was one of many airports with double digit growth which was was positively impacted by a lower number of public holidays compared to the same month last year. Moreover, the month of May 2016 was characterized by overall lower traffic volumes and a number of weather-related flight cancellations. In fact that could be applied to most of the European airports (LHR, CDG, AMS, MAD and many more) since Easter holiday occurred in April this year as oppose to March in 2016.

In the USA it was surprisingly DEN which grew extremely fast, almost 10%, however, again, I am not completely sure why is that happening.
Even though MNL has not released statistics for any month of 2017 so far, its safe so assume it became 47th airport in the history to surpass 40 million served passengers in the 12 month period.

In the chart below you can see monthly traffic of 1075 for 2017 with comparison of 2016. Right behind the same graph with more years included (the number of airports is lower because some airports did not publish historical data)

April was the best month since the global recession in case of net additional passengers compare to the last period. More than 49 million passengers traveled in April 2017 compare to April 2016. That is really an amazing achievement!

Nice to see YYZ back in the top 30. Hopefully it's the beginning of a move back up the chart.

If this Qatar blockade continues for the rest of the year, it will have an impact on DXB's numbers for 2017. DOH is the second busiest destination from DXB, so completely closing that route will have implications on DXB's passenger and even aircraft movements figures. Hopefully the issue is sorted out soon enough.

DOH is also severely affected by this. They are reports that QR has lost up to 30% of their passenger traffic just due to this.
