if the AnsaldoBreda MB-300 trains (which were made in the early 1990s) have six coaches each, then how come the newer Alstom Metropolis 9000 trains have only five coaches each?

Financing approved for Lima metro Line 2
Friday, December 05, 2014

THE Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announced on December 4 that it has approved a $US 750m package of loans to finance the construction of Lima Metro Line 2, Peru's largest-ever Public Private Partnership project

Earlier this year Peru's private investment agency Proinversión awarded the 35-year PPP concession to finance, build, operate, and maintain the line to Consorcio Nuevo Metro de Lima, a consortium of ACS Dragados and FCC, Spain, Salini Impreglio, Italy, AnsaldoBreda, Ansaldo STS and Cosapi, Peru. The consortium is providing $US 1.2bn in financing for the $US 5.8bn project.

The 27km east-west underground line will connect the district of Ate Vitarte with the city centre and Callao on the Pacific coast. The line is expected to carry 644,000 passengers per day with journey time of 45 minutes between Ate Vitarte and Callao

Peru begins work on 2nd metro line in capital

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala on Monday inaugurated construction of a second metro line for this capital, a $5.6 billion initiative that will include 35 kilometers (21.7 miles) of track and 35 new stations.

A consortium led by Spain's FCC and ACS won the contract to carry out the project, which is one of the largest of its kind in Latin America.

Humala said his administration has executed $19.28 billion in infrastructure investment since taking office in 2011.

Line 2 of the Lima metro is "the largest project in the history of the transportation sector" in Peru, Transport Minister Jose Gallardo said.

More than 3,000 people will be employed in construction of the new line, which is expected to serve upwards of 600,000 commuters a day. EFE

I like new metro cars, which has a soothing green colour. I like it.

The line 2 will be completely underground, is it true?

Lima & Algiers are the two cities of the world, where metro construction started in eighties, but almost paralyzed throughout two decades, and the construction. Oh god, this is painful. Like Algiers, it also has only one line (also like my City Kolkata), But unlike Kolkata, it is fully overground, and uses overhead wire.

Line 1 now uses new trains, which is green, looks very soothing than old trains, which were red.

I’m very happy to know that construction of line 2 & 4 will be started very soon, but why not line 3, and why line 4?

I got these two maps of the proposed routes of Lima Metro, but there are some differences between them. Which one is correct?

This is the combined Lima tram & metro map. Look how the tram network was gigantic before 1964. Now only half Km, tram line reopened as heritage service.

Hitachi, Mitsubishi and Hyundai interested in Lima Metro Lines 3 & 4

Beijing (China), Sep. 11. Japanese and South Korean investors have expressed their interest in the concession of Lima Metro Lines 3 & 4, which was announced on the sidelines of Road Show Asia 2015 organized by Peru in Tokyo, Seoul and Beijing.

Proinversion Investment Director Javier Correa confirmed that, in the case of Japan, both Hitachi –one of the leading suppliers of rolling stock– and Mitsubishi have shown interest in such megaprojects.

Representatives of both transnational corporations participated in bilateral meetings held in Japan and South Korea within the framework of Road Show Asia 2015.

Japanese investors have also expressed their eagerness to invest in mining and port infrastructure projects.

South Korea’s Hyundai Rotem is also interested in the concession of Lima Metro Lines 3 and 4.

Source

It seems that the full line 3 and the rest of the line 4 will be tendered by next year.
