I once cross-checked but can't remember the outcome, though I'm 70% sure grouped dwellings will be in other residential. Quite sure that whenever ABS say "house", they mean detached. If they group House with anything else, that's when they just say "dwelling"

Don't forget the Wungong Urban Water development in Armadale that's further south but more east

I would say that any green title non-strata property is a "house" and all other strata-titled dwellings are "other dwelling".

So a typical battleaxe subdivision would be "house", whereas if there were 3-4 strata properties accessed via a shared driveway then they would be "other dwelling".

Not necessarily. The ABS definition of a house is something like "freestanding structure with >10cm separation from adjacent dwelling". So triplex/quadplex could quite possibly be counted as a detached house. they generally have a definitions section.

Did an act of parliament have to pass to hand this land to the MRA? Or can the minister just decide.... hey you council, you're shit so we are taking all this land off you and going to manage it ourselves??

As in, could they just take the whole of CoP and CoSP off them and give them to the MRA please (I know the MRA have issues - I am the first critic of PCL - but still better than the local councils)

The MRA Act lets the Minister make regulations defining the precincts. As they're regulations either house of parliament can disallow it. So yes they could do that but politically they won't. A more acceptable approach would simply be to sack the COP. Or even revive the mergers policy and expand the COP's boundaries so we don't persist with the ludicrous situation where the Lord Mayor of Perth is elected with about 2000 votes.

Was this the one that had trouble at the council at DAP? Has it changed much?

When the original plans were submitted local residents and the council made a big fuss and the DAP refused it.

A couple of months late the developer submitted revised plans which had some minor changes, but nothing too substantial (0.5m shorter, more landscaping etc.) - and the DAP were happy to approve that:

http://www.communitynews.com.au/guar...e-development/

The whole process was a joke, but at least it was approved in the end. Would like to see more of these popping up around Highgate - great location, just needs more density.
