OKLAHOMA CITY | BOK Park Plaza - 499 Sheridan | 433ft | 27 fl | U/C

A new highrise for downtown Oklahoma City:

This is for the block directly west of the Devon Tower, most on OKCTalk call it the "Preftakes Block". We are hearing Bank of Oklahoma will be the main tenant and Devon Energy will occupy the rest.

Initially, the height was going to be somewhere in the 20-25 story range, but now it seems to be much higher.

The buildings that needed to be demolished before this project could get underway were demolished (with controversy) and there are now cranes on-site with construction going full force.

Not sure of the exact timeline, but I believe it is still expected to be complete in 2017.

What was the controversy?

The entire block had a number of historic buildings on it, including the Union Bus Station, which caused a stir within the preservationist crowd; similar to when the Stage Center was torn down for a couple of new skyscrapers (Rainey Williams).

Side Note: the OGE/Rainey Williams/Clayco development has since been scaled back, although to what extent is uncertain, but there should be some new information regarding that in the near future.

There are also some that are upset because the plans call for two parking garages to take up a large portion of the block, whereas the tower (officially called the "BOK Park Plaza") itself doesn't take up much of the block. They feel it would be better for the tower to be built on top of the parking garages and what is leftover of the block be developed on a human-scale with a mixture of stores, restaurants, and housing.

Thanks.

I read some where that the OGE/Rainey Williams/Clayco development was scaled back to two towers.

I believe it has been, but I don't want to use the BOK Park Plaza thread to divulge into that. If I get time, I'll post in the appropriate thread.

The foundation of the tower and one of the parking garages is already being laid.
This project is moving along at a quick pace and is exciting, despite what was lost for it.

No revisions will be made that we know of at this time, it'll be 27 floors at approx. 433 feet.

Park Plaza will make a nice impact on the skyline. It will really enhance the skyline, especially when it comes to expanding it westward.

Working on the 10 floor at this time on the tower. The north parking garage is almost or should be topped out.
