I like your link better. There is a lot going on in town right now. If you are interested in RVA, check out urban planet for a lot more construction info.

How close to downtown is Mayo Island? Would those development proposals be visible from the southside of downtown on the I-95 approach?

For all intents and purposes Mayo Island is in the middle of downtown. 14th street cuts across it. It is probably 1/4 mile from 95. 1/4 mile from the CBD too. It would be very visible from the interests and other bridges.

RICHMOND

Navy Federal Credit Union is planning to expand its member service operation in Frederick County, creating 400 jobs.

Gov. Bob McDonnell's office said Tuesday that the credit union will make a multimillion-dollar investment to construct a new facility on its Winchester campus.

Navy Federal Credit Union is the world's largest credit union with more than 4 million members and more than 220 branch offices. It serves all Department of Defense military and civilian personnel and their families.

Frederick County officials say the credit union's member service operation has expanded to more than 500 employees in six years. With the planned expansion, Navy Federal will be one of the largest employers in the community.

New 15-21 floor office building for downtown.

I really like the look of the ground floor but the building is about 15 floors too short

These are really about brand development of some local retailers. Ledbury is a Richmond shirt company selling the Virginia lifestyle (with some Low Country thrown in). Need Supply Co. carries pieces by regional designers and is selling "coolness". Both have a really controlled and beautiful (and smart IMO) aesthetic. Companies like this are changing the look and feel of Richmond. The people that appear in these short video clips are also celebrated local chefs, mixologists (hate that term) and musicians. All of the cross marketing is brilliant not and I for one am really encouraged by it.

For building development (and there is a ton of it) go here. http://buildrva.tumblr.com/

Ledbury. .

Need Supply Co. .

I did not realize how much development is going on and in the pipeline. Great site Spencer... It is too bad that the 15 story office planned for dt is not 30 stories though.

Indeed. There was a lot of grumbling about the height (or lack thereof) when it was announced.

The developers say that it can go as high as 21 floors (without starting from scratch) if there is demand for that. Lumber Liquidators is moving their corporate headquarters to downtown Richmond. We are hopeful that they will want space in that building.

That site doesn't include VCU development.
They have a high rise dorm on grace street in the Fan, another 15 floor hospital and about 15 administrative, class room and housing projects in the 4-7 floor range downtown and in the Fan that are in the works. The skyline isn't changing but the experience on the ground has gotten so much better over the past 5 years.

I would love to stay in MD...despite the politics, I just don't see it in the cards. I am looking at VA Beach and North FL as places to relocate. I have lived in both places and it will probably come down to a flip of the coin...
