DARWIN - #COMPLETED: H105 Mitchell (105 Mitchell Street) - 18st / 56m / hotel

This will be another great addition to the skyline if it goes ahead. Its a development by Halikos Group, who built the 15 level apartments next to the Atrium Hotel.

It also backs on to the 130 Esplanade buildings creating more density at this end of the city.

What's that on top of the building? A spire or a lightning rod?

This will be a nice cluster... The 130 group, the Hilton (Double Tree expansion) and now this....

THIS is the first artist's impression of the newest high-rise complex set to hit the Darwin skyline next year.
As revealed in the NT News yesterday, Halikos Hospitality's 18-storey luxury apartments will be built on Mitchell St - on the site of the old Top End Hotel.
With work starting in two weeks, "D105" will be a 4.5-star property with a mix of one and two-bedroom serviced apartments to accommodate resource project staff and corporate clients.
Halikos Hospitality general manager Geoff Weeks said the hotel would put an extra 180 rooms on to the market, alleviating the pressure on existing CBD hotels and increase their ability to service the tourism and business events market.
He said the complex would only be available to Ichthys sub-contractors and other major projects contractors in Darwin.
"D105 not only serves to meet the accommodation needs of major projects, but will also create further opportunity for local suppliers as well as training, development and employment of local staff, and increase Darwin's overall capacity to provide diverse accommodation solutions," he said.
Inpex NT general manager Sean Kildare welcomed the project.
"INPEX welcomes developments such as this that increase Darwin's available capacity and provide quality accommodation for the corporate and business travelling market," he said.
Mr Weeks said D105 would incorporate the iconic Lizard's Bar and Grill.

Great news. Work commences in a couple of weeks.

Good news, another one starting construction, the design looks pretty ordinary though. Gives a perspective of how huge the Ichthys LNG project is for Darwin. Nevermind indirect boosts to highrise development. Here we have a developer building a highrise building as a direct result, and specifically to serve, the people working on the project.

This building has gone up quickly. Almost finished as of the Nearmap image from July.

This is now completed and has changed it's name to H105 Mitchell. Here is a photo I found on TripAdvisor, posted by TonyandHelenP
