prek tamak, kandal

The Prek Tamak Bridge is situated 40 km north of Phnom Penh, Cambodia and should provide another link between East and West by crossing the Mekong.

The contractor of the project is China’s Shanghai Construction (Group) General Company. Chinese ambassador Zhang Jinfeng addressed that the construction of the bridge will promote economic development in Cambodia. The Prek Tamak Bridge is 1,060 meters in length and 13.5 meters in width and will accommodate speeds of 60 km per hour.

The construction period of the 43.5 million U.S. dollars project lasted about 50 months and it opened in 2010.

Kizuna bridge, kompong cham

In 2001, the Kizuna bridge was opened in Kampong Cham District. It was the first bridge to be built over the Mekong river in Cambodia.[3] Construction of the bridge was funded by a $56 million grant from the Japanese government. At 1500 metres in length it was the longest bridge in Cambodia until the 1900 metre Thai-Cambodian bridge was built in Koh Kong in 2002.[4] The Kizuna bridge links eastern and western Cambodia by road for the first time. Construction of the bridge began in 1999 and took three years to complete. An estimated 10,000 people crowded the bridge for the opening ceremony.[5]
