SHANGRI-LA Hotel Asia Ltd. said its new project will rise at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City at a cost of $250 million.

The hotel, Shangri-La said, will be completed in 2012.

In the foundation laying ceremony held Thursday at the project’s site, Shangri-La Asia Ltd. said the hotel will be more than 60-story high with 500 guestrooms and 234 apartments.

Eduard Kuok, president and chief executive officer of Shangri-La Asia, said the construction of the Shangri-La at the Fort is a “demonstration of our firm commitment to the Philippines.”

“Our presence and confidence in this market continue to grow with an expanding portfolio of business and leisure properties,” he said.

The size of the hotel’s guestrooms will range from 52 square meters (sq.m.) for a standard room to 260 sq.m. for a “Horizon Club” room, Shangri-La’s exclusive retreat for travelers.

The new hotel will also feature over 4,600 sq.m. of meeting and banqueting facilities, including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 11 function rooms, a boardroom, business center, individual teleconferencing room and a 350-sq.m. high-end outdoor-event area.

From insider information Shang Fort is delayed. This is the same at One Shang Place where they are trying to open the mall area before xmas. I think its something that the developer promised to the tenants but doubt it will happen. They are pushing the contractor but this will only affect quality.
Same as St. Francis Shang Place which experienced delays. Heard there are many problem with construction at this condo and a lot of very unhappy owners making demands.
Shang always end up with problematic local contractors and its a surprise to see Monolith involved with Shang Fort - they don't have much regard in the industry.
May be something to do with the developers project construction team? They are the same from project to project but never seem to learn from mistakes.
They just 'black-list' failed contractors and suppliers. Pretty soon, they may end up with no one to work on their developments :eek:hno:
