Liège, Luik, Lüttich, Lîdje: this city has many names and many faces. Liege is a very interesting medieval city, but a modern monstruosity too. Liege has beautiful romanesque chruches and it has grey concrete flats. Contrasts: the Belgians have made them their speciality. The old centre of Liege, however, is generally well preserved.

Saint-Jean. The western façade is romanesque, the nave is ghotic. EDIT: This is Saint-Jacques, thanks Tchek!

An abbey.

The Cathedral (Saint-Paul).

7.

Saint-Denis, another romanesque church with a gothic choir and some baroque extrensions.

If you say Liege, you say La Batte: the famous sunday-market alongside the river Meuse. It is the perfect spot to get an impression of the city's vibe.

The Montagne de Bueren is an outdour stairway with 373 steps. It is a tough walk, but the view over the city and its surroundings are worth it.

Great pic!

Too bad for those flats... the city would have looked so much better and has a such a big potential if the planners had made better architectural decisions... especially alongside the Meuse

ps: Picture 5, I think this church is not St-jean, but St-jacques...
