I have just heard that they are putting in a place for dogs to swim in Sydney Park.
Having suggested on this forum I think, that an opportunity be provided in Vic Park- given how many dogs we have and the lack of access to beaches nearby for dogs, this is a thrill to hear.
Has anyone else heard about this?

I haven't heard anything but I know they are doing extensive works to the waterways there. I'd be surprised if they will be allowed in the current ponds because they have been trying to keep dogs out of the water as some have killed the swans that nest there.

A purpose dog lake would be a good idea though.

Here are the works for teh park: http://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/v...ds/sydney-park

I think the council spending money on recreational facilities for animals is a sign that they've lost their way.

We have dog parks, why not extend on that? Anyway, we have no idea if it is true.

I think it's a great Idea. I love taking my dogs to the beach, I get just as much enjoyment out of it as they do!

For local consumption:

There will be a council run Infohub at The Kiosk, Joynton Park, tomorrow, Saturday 8 March, from 2.30 p.m.

Answers to your questions may be available there.

So Ruby Tower has been sold to a new developer...the builder Hutchison, under a developer entity (no doubt not quite the right terminology) within the company.

They expect settlement by end of March on purchase of the development and intend to commence building straight away with a projected completion of end of 2015.

How refreshing to have clear communication with a well-regarded company

Green Square Urban Renewal factsheet:

http://www.urbangrowthnsw.com.au/dow...TownCentre.pdf

TIMING
In the short term:
• Achieve development application approval
of two key parcels of land in 2014 and to
execute a civil contract for the delivery of
infrastructure for the public domain.
• Works to continue over the next ten years.

Thanks to Sky:

Link provided this map:

Identified as Extended Urban Renewal Possibilities.
The blue area is the Town Centre.
The 2 darker yellow areas are denoted as Extended Urban Renewal Possiblities.

I wondered which "two key parcels of land" were referred to in the UrbanGrowth document but when I saw this map I thought that maybe this is what was being referred to:

1. Epsom Park - the horizontal area indicated is the Ausgrid site which is needed for the extension of Zetland Avenue from the Town Centre east to Link Road;

2. Lachlan Precinct - the vertical area indicated covers most of the area needed for the extension of Gadigal Avenue from O'Dea Avenue to Lachlan Street plus some adjacent parcels of land.

GREEN SQUARE TOWN CENTRE

GSC [Green Square Consortium] aka LML SITE

This image of the indicative buildings according to the council DCP was on the link to UrbanGrowth provided by Sky.
It is imposed on a rather old aerial photo of the area but it does give a clear if isolated view* of how the Town Centre will look when completed.
The design of the buildings is indicative as buildings over 15 storeys [unless the rule has been changed] must go to a design competition.
There is one particularly intriguing tower design indicated which I hope is not merely fanciful.

*Isolated view = no indication is given of the buildings planned on Transport Place, Bridgehill Site, Hatbands Site, the two small sites on Botany Road, the Ford Site [Elizabeth & Joynton] nor the Former South Sydney Hospital Site.

Note in the above ad on the Ruby Display suite the Completion late 2014...this photo was taken today so clearly no one was too concerned about the poor sods who put their money down in trust, left with no communication.

Simply put one of the few developers in Vic Park that just never started building and finally news that they have ssold the development onto a new company who will build it. The new firm is highly reputable and has communicated already giving a timeline.

I am not sure if there are too many of these in Vic Park? Maybe Viking is one other where finally Crown bought it and it is being built.

So it's not going to be built by Hutchinson? Which companies are the new developer and builder?

Hutchinson are now both the builder and the developer. The developer was different. Google is your friend to find these answers.

Also reading posts before the last one is surprisingly informative.

c d girl: I'm no lawyer but I'd say that sign has no legal force. You'd need a legal document, contract guaranteeing the date, which is unlikely with a development/construction project given the exigencies of finances, construction, etc., as you've painfully found out.
