Google starts "street view" of Japanese cities

Don't know where to talk, so I post this on a new thread.
From 5 August, Google expanded the "Street View" feature on
Japanese cities too, now on Greater Tokyo, Osaka-Kyoto-Kobe, Sendai, Hakodate, and Sapporo.
It showed my neighborhood too, though my house itself was not shown yet.

Some views:

Tokyo
National Diet
West Shinjuku
Shibuya
Akihabara
Fuji TV
Choose your favorite girl...
or boy (Just a few meters south from the above, both in east Shinjuku.)
Sanya, the closest thing to slum in Tokyo

Kanto
Yokohama Chinatown
Landmark Tower
A beach in Shonan
Monorail fan's delight, Chiba

Osaka
Tsutenkaku Tower
Umeda Sky Building
Highway going through a building

Kinki
Gion, Kyoto
Toji Temple, Kyoto

A location of the popular anime,

Nishinomiya Kitaguchi Station

Some funny views posted on 2ch

A boy caresses a girl
An idol girl and staffs shoot a movie

Ah, excellent... I was wondering when they would roll this out for Japan.
There goes another hour at work today...

with the street views, I don't have to feel bad that I can't afford an extended vacation to Tokyo
I would appreciate it if more links were provided to other major locations within tokyo...it sucks that I can't read japanese...

It could be her, but it could also be Kaho or Fukuda Saki or some girl that isn't as big as them. Unless somebody post pictures or a video of this moment we will never know for sure.

No matter where you are in Tokyo, it's like an urban setting. You can actually walk around and there are stores lined everywhere. Is it heaven?

^Most older development anywhere is like that, not just Tokyo. Before the advent of motorized transport (and the concept of "zoning" residential uses away from other uses), mixed-use was common. Plus, you can't support mixed-use without good density right next to it.

If you want to see the less glamorous side of things, just get out of central Tokyo and explore the burbs and exurbs... Tokyo sprawls like nothing else on earth.

Den'en Chofu, Ota/Setagaya Wards, Tokyo: A somewhat exclusive "garden city" neighborhood... This actually isn't too bad, although some of the buildings can look a little cheesy.
Futako-Tamagawa, Setagaya Ward, Tokyo
Hachioji, Tokyo
Katsushika Ward, Tokyo: Some kind of mini farm perhaps...
Aoba Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa
Midori Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa
Tama Ward, Kawasaki, Kanagawa: Two lonely vending machines...
Omiya Ward, Saitama, Saitama
Urawa Ward, Saitama, Saitama
Kashiwa, Chiba
Funabashi, Chiba: This really isn't that much different from suburban development here in the US...
Matsudo, Chiba
Massive outlet mall, Makuhari, Chiba

Google recently expanded the area, including Asahikawa, Nagoya, Nagasaki Prefecture, and Okinawa Prefecture.

Hilly farms in Biei, Hokkaido.
Asahiyama Zoo, Asahikawa, Hokkaido.

Mode Gakuen Spiral Towers, Nagoya, Aichi.
Quad/octad traffic signal complex at Osu, Nagoya, Aichi.
Toyota Motor HQ, Toyota, Aichi.

Tabira Catholic Church, Tabira, Nagasaki.

Tanegashima Space Port, Minamitane, Kagoshima.

"That 2000 yen gate", Naha, Okinawa.
Great Ikema Bridge, Miyakojima, Okinawa.
Shimojishima Airport, Shimoji Island. Miyakojima, Okinawa.
Kondoi Beach, Taketomi Island. Taketomi, Okinawa.
Traditional Ryukyuan street of Taketomi Island. Taketomi, Okinawa.
Mangroves in Iriomote Island. Taketomi, Okinawa.

...But this expansion, except of Nagoya and Naha, doesn't seem that practical to me. It looks like they expanded touristic areas they wanted to go, rather than more congested areas like Fukuoka or not-yet-covered Kanto.
