It's a nice tower, I like it. Of course it won't be a revolution, but if the construction is of quality, it is the kind of little touch that can help getting a more "21st century" image to the district.
On this map, the AGF Athena may be demolished and rebuilt in the near future. and why are the Manhattan Tower and the Descartes tower planning renovations?
^^Sorry, Descartes is too young for a destruction. Descartes is only 20 years old and has 40 floors. Whatever that project is, it needs to be cancelled. descartes is fine the way it is. It needs to find a new tenant.
Robert A. M. Stern to design green office tower at La Defense, Paris
The French insurance company, Aviva, announced today that it has selected Robert A.M. Stern Architects to design a new environmentally responsible office tower at La Defense outside of Paris. The 35-storey, 45,000 square meter building dubbed Tour Carpe Diem aspires to be “an important step forward in the evolution of La Defense toward pedestrian-friendly urbanism and environmentally responsible architecture”. When complete, the building will connect the raised esplanade - the “dalle” that continues the axis of the Champs-Elysees- and the urban fabric of the city of Courbevoie to the north.
Tour Carpe Diem will significantly exceed French regulations for environmentally responsible development. The building will have a triple glazed curtain wall with integrated sunshades that respond to the solar orientation of each façade and innovative grilles that provide natural ventilation to reduce air conditioning loads. Additional sustainable design strategies include solar water heating, a heat recovery system and high performance lighting.
Stern bested Jacques Ferrier Architect (Paris) and Foster + Partners (London) in a three-way competition. SRA Architects of Chatillon, France, will serve as associate architect for the project.
The Developement company in charge of the project in Warsaw has said that it will get in contact with the architecht and ask him to change his project or they may appeal or something like that, any way from what they said to the Media their not happy
I get why though look its so similar and the warsaw project was published first
Construction dates have been changed
construction should now start in 2009 and the tower would be delivered in 2011 (instead of 2013)
Height is still 166m
and please , polish people stop trolling on this thread.
There are thousands of towers which looks similar in the world .
^^ Great news. Didn't see that coming. Maybe I'll take a look in june. ( if Im going to Paris at all )
