I feel so sorry for the chapel, It should of been opened to the street breaking up the buildings letting more light into the courtyard. I don't get excited by this design but the apartments look very nice.

Luxury London developer chases UAE investors
Arabian Business
28 April 2013
Quote:
The developers of a prime central London real estate project arrived in the UAE on Sunday in a bid to secure investors.

Fitzroy Place will be showcased to potential investors on April 28-29 at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Comprising 235 private apartments in addition to over 300,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant space as well as educational facilities and public open space, the development is located in Fitzrovia, London W1, an area of London bordered by Mayfair, Soho, Marylebone, Bloomsbury and Regents Park.

Daniel van Gelder, co-founder, Exemplar, the developer of Fitzroy Place, said in comments published by news agency WAM: "Prime central London has long been a sought after destination for real estate investors from the UAE due to its strong rental track record and continued growth prospects, and its proximity to world-class education institutions, offices and tourist attractions.

"Fitzroy Place offers investors in the UAE a very unique opportunity to invest in a property in London which will see strong appreciation over the years."

Nigerians spend more in London than Americans and Russians.

Top international spend in London:

1. China
2. Middle East
3. Nigeria

Oil rich country with strong historical links to the UK. What's surprising is that it's surprising I suppose.

The Nigeria that you seldom see:

There's many Nigerians with pockets deep enough to invest in developments like this.

Nigerian senators earn over $1m a year, it's about 6x more than US senators (who get double or more of their European equivalent). Apparently it's to make them less prone to corruption.

I lived with a Nigerian last year in uni halls. He was loaded! I remember him being distraught when he only had £1000 to last him till the end of the month, bonkers.

He was also less than impressed with his second year accommodation, which was a swanky apartment in an urban splash development, but when you live next to the presidential palace I can sort of understand. :/

When we talk about big spenders, are we talking about investment in real estate, buying companies, setting up businesses or just clothes shopping in HA Rod's?
