While this is not a USC/CU thread, I think there are some real reasons. For one, clemson really is a little more talented. But despite that, SC has been right there every year except the blowout year, and that was because they folded up with 10 mins left in the first quarter. Just look at the last three years. All of them have come down to one play or another, and could have easily gone either way. SC outplayed clemson the entire game last year, until clemson's final possession. Add USCs dumb turnovers and gift of CUs first two scores and that explains that one. But there have been many other colse ones that have gone CUs way (remember the "push-off" of 2000? Even Clemson fans admit that was bogus). SC also seems to be more injured late in the year for whatever reason; they were without their top 5 defenders in last years game. But I truly believe the biggest thing is that SC just has a mental block against Clemson, sort of an intimidation factor. They just don't believe they can win. I think this is also the cse with Tennesee. SC could have easily won about 5 of the last 7 over UT, but they always find a way to lose on the last drive or in over time.

Even though South Carolina is older than Southern Calif.?

And BTW, there is no university called "The University of Carolina." There is a University of both North and South Carolina. Therefore, both actually have equal claim on the nomer "Carolina."

Alabama / Clemson Travel Alert

I just saw this on the local news website. I hope people are getting the message.

During the three-day Labor Day Weekend crews will tear out and rebuild sections of I-85 and I-75/I-85.

I-85 southbound reduced to 2 lanes at the I-75 merge
I-75 southbound reduced to 1 lane at the I-85 merge

Fans from South Carolina traveling southbound on I-85 are strongly urged to take I-285 east to I-20 west for access to downtown Atlanta.

Motorists should expect EXTREME delays on SOUTHBOUND I-85 and I-75 through downtown the entire Labor day weekend.

^Yeah I heard about that last night on the news, and fans heading to Atlanta should use MARTA. But of course there will be some who will bitch, whine and moan about how bad traffic was in Atlanta, like they never sat in traffic on gameday on the way to Tuscaloosa.

Here are the suggested alternate routes. Directions.pdf

Does anyone outside of upstate South Carolina even give a rats ass about Clemson?

Start a freakin' ACC thread if you want to keep discussing how they would win in a pissing match with NC State.

Say goodbye to SEC football on Jefferson-Pilot/Lincoln Financial Sports.

SEC TV deal with ESPN on football will mean all conference games will be broadcast
Posted by Jon Solomon -- Birmingham News

Categories: Breaking News

Starting next season, SEC football games will find a home on ESPNU and ESPN Regional Television, in addition to ESPN, ESPN2 and CBS.

As part of the SEC's 15-year, $2.25 billion deal with ESPN, at least 20 SEC games annually will be televised on ESPN and ESPN2, including Saturday night and two primetime Thursday games. ESPNU will show a minimum of 13 games, generally in primetime on Saturday. ESPN Regional Television will feature at least 13 games each Saturday as a syndicator, generally at 11:30 a.m.

Live games will be simulcast on ESPN Mobile TV and ESPN360.com.

In men's basketball, the SEC Tournament semifinals and championship will move to ABC, a sister network of ESPN. It's the first time ABC will show conference basketball tournaments.

An ESPN outlet will show every SEC conference game, excluding those on CBS, and numerous out-of-conference games. ESPN and ESPN2 will triple their offerings of the SEC by featuring the conference three nights per week, with a minimum of 24 conference games and six non-conference games each season.

The SEC will continue to have a Tuesday slot on ESPN plus appearances on Thursday and Saturday (ESPN or ESPN2). ESPNU will televise a minimum of seven conference games and five non-conference games. ESPN Regional Television will syndicate a minimum of 37 conference games and the first two rounds of the SEC Tournament.

The deal also includes at least three regular season SEC baseball or softball games on ESPN or ESPN2, and three regular-season gymnastics matches. The SEC championships in gymnastics, baseball and softball will be televised.

ESPNU will show at least 25 regular-season events from sports such as baseball, softball, volleyball, gymnastics, soccer, swimming and diving, and track and field.

Not quite sure how to feel about that yet myself. I only have ESPN and ESPN 2. So I'll be missing out on a little bit.

I think its a good move by the SEC, the big games will still be on CBS or ESPN. So unless you are interested in games like Arkansas vs Vandy, or dont have cable that might be a problem.

I don't think it changes much for football except maybe one or two games a year. In Georgia's case for example a game against Vandy or Kentucky which used to be syndicated by Raycom will probably now go to ESPNU.
