As per Rediff reports, Trivandrum Central (Kerala) is the 8th best railway station in India .

It is the largest and busiest railway station in Kerala in terms of passenger movement and an important rail hub in South India. It is also the most profitable station under Southern Railway division. Inaugurated in November 1931, this is one of the oldest railway stations in India. The unique feature of the construction is the rock masonry.

Nice article on Old Chennai-Trivandrum Meter Guage via Kollam

Quilon - Trivandrum Central Metre Gauge Line

The Madras-Quilon line was extended to the capital of the Princeley State of Travancore, Trivandrum and was opened on 4 January 1918. The line then terminated at a place called Chalai, which is a market now and was the trading centre of Trivandrum then. The terminus was shifted to Trivandrum Central (Thampanoor) was inaugurated in 1931. The Trivandrum Central station we see today was built by the Maharajah of Travancore and inaugurated on 4 November 1931. Truly, this is one of the most beautiful station buildings in South India. The station is built completely with rock masonry and no brick has been used. Though the traffic here has multiplied exponentially after conversion of Ernakulam-Quilon MG line to BG and inauguration of Tirunelveli-Trivandrum BG line, the station, even 75 years after it was built, handles it with ease, much better than many important stations built later. Another farsightedness of the Maharajah.

The Ernakulam-Quilon MG line, via Kottayam was opened on 6 January 1958 thus connecting Ernakulam to Trivandrum, the commercial hub to capital of the new born state of Kerala. During 1970's the only traffic in the Ernakulam-Trivandrum line were two expresses and a couple of passengers. This line was converted to Broad Gauge and inaugurated by Smt. Indira Gandhi on 13 September 1976. Traffic has increased by leaps and bounds on this route after the Gauge Conversion.

Thiruvananthapuram Central (Trivandrum Central) is the main railway station in the city of Thiruvananthapuram (formerly Trivandrum) in the Indian state of Kerala. It is the largest and busiest railway station in Kerala in terms of passenger movement and the second most important rail hub in South India behind Chennai Central.[1] It is also the most profitable station under Southern Railway Division.[2] The building of the railway station is one of the landmarks in Thiruvananthapuram. Thiruvananthapuram Central is also a terminating point for the proposed Chennai - Bangalore - Thiruvananthapuram High Speed Rail (HSR) corridor and the Thiruvananthapuram - Mangalore High Speed Rail corridor by the Indian Railways. The railway station located opposite to the Central Bus Station Thiruvananthapuram at Thampanoor.
Trains from here connect the city of Thiruvananthapuram to major cities of India including New Delhi,Bangalore, Chennai, Indore, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Madurai,Vizag, Jammu, Howrah, Guwahati, Madgaon, Hubli, Ahmedabad, Gwalior, Nagpur, Pune, Jaipur, Kota Bhubaneshwar, Gorakhpur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Vijayawada, Bhubaneshwar, Coimbatore, Mangalore etc. This station is also noted for a whole range of amenities available within the premises. The station has book-shops, restaurants, accommodation, Internet browsing centers and even an essential commodities shopping mall. A second satellite station was opened in 2005 at Kochuveli called the Kochuveli Vikram Sarabhai Terminal, near the International Airport. Thiruvananthapuram is the first major city from south along the longest train routes in India, the Kanyakumari-Thiruvananthapuram-Dibrugarh Vivek route and the Kanyakumari-Thiruvananthapuram-Jammu Tawi Himsagar route.
The Thiruvananthapuram Central station building was built during the reign of Sethu Lakshmi Bayi, the Maharani of Travancore, and inaugurated on 4 November 1931. This is the oldest Railway station building, still functioning in India.[3] No bricks were used for the construction of this station building; it was built completely with rock masonry.[4] A second terminal (south Terminal) was opened in 2004 to handle passenger traffic and later a West Terminal in 2007. This station is completely Wi-Fi enabled.[citation needed] To reduce traffic, the Central Railway Station has 18 railway tracks.
The terminus is one the A1 stations in the state of Kerala.[5]

The author has mentioned in his blog that the information recieved by him is by word of mouth from some Railway Officals.
May be he would have got confused between Chaka and Chala.
