i haven't been there either but will be going in the next 2 week to explore the town, i've been to Penang and walk around the old-town area. Based on my friends the red square or stadhuys have alot to offer and things to see, basically its the only tourist spot, walk around old town and churches etc. There are the ruins of a farmosa the portuguesse fortress which is sadly demolished by the Brits few century back, a musseum which is nearby the fort which offers Malay history and artifacts, jongker street a night market with alot of food, or portuguesse village which are populated by their descent but its abit far! there are beach but you can't swim there Food is a must, if you can eat durians you have to try es cendol durian and the chicken rice
