Venice, by a long shot.

But! If Long Beach didn't tear down it's history (Pike, historical structures) and put a breakwater on the beach (see the Top 10 worst Long Beach decisions thread) amongst other things this wouldn't even be a contest. And it's not my bias talking.

^ I agree... Venice is more representative of LA.

WOW!
When did that happen? I always hear about some stupid car drivers trying to cut off the blue line trains, but an MTA bus???

They should make the line elevated all the way to downtown LB, so there wouldnt be any other traffic interfering anymore... I am sure that the insurance companies have already paid much more to cover all those accidents than what it would cost to elevate the rail. Maybe if insurance companies could come up with a grant to MTA... Yes, I know, Im dreaming

Probably a few hours before you posted!
Ya know,..... my hometown has had a bad couple of weeks just trying to move people around in one piece. I'd sure like to have Washington sit up and notice but unfortunately all of our money is moving on its own fast train to new york.
Funny, uhh- ya know.... how things tend to work out..... ya know? Our dough makes the bread, and we all know which side is being buttered! I'm ****-******* happy as a clam right now

Neither is the water front of the city. In general I don't think LA has a "waterfront" even though technically that could be Venice or Playa del Rey but those areas do not have much of a LA city feel and don't think much LA people go there.

If LA were to have a waterfront it would be malibu.

^ That's ridiculous. Venice absolutely screams LA.

Malibu is not in the city of Los Angeles so it could not be Los Angeles's waterfront. Malibu is beach front and it's own city.

I have to disagree. Venice is a very urban area, so it definitely feels like the city. And in terms of its general character, I'm not sure how much more LA you can get other than Venice. I don't think all those people playing basketball and and skateboarding are tourists.

To all those who get technical what is within the city and what is not:

I had a project in Pacific Palisades. The property was very close to PCH and had a nice view over the ocean and beaches, and it was within the city! I was surprised, that property was actually annexed to the City of Los Angeles! (which complicated my job a little. I was hoping it would be in an unincorporated area of the county...)
