Can't they enlarge the stadium only on 2 sides/4? Something like St. James's Park, at least for a while.
Thinking the capacity will shrink to 45.000, they might need to enlarge it, but it the stadium always full on regular turkish league games? Or just vs. Galata, Besiktas + European games and eventually the last home game of the season?

East and North stand: no space

Main stand

North stand

West / main stand: no space

Only the south stand can be expanded
(the houses are part of an old school and the club plans to built a mall etcc there)

Can't they try ( even if costly ) an expansion typical to Mestalla and Bernabeu? Both stadiums had limited space around and it should be expensive to build very steep stands but still a better option then move to the edge of the city just a few years after building this one.

Its only doable at the ends. The sides have already very steep upper tiers. So there is a limit on how many seats they can add to this stadium.I personally think adding tiers to this current stadium would be ideal. It would be a very steep yet intimate stadium, similar to Bernabeu.

I don't know if they can add a 45° tier here

8km away there is an old factory site.
Maybe they can use this area.
http://wikimapia.org/#lang=de&lat=40...earch=Istanbul

Or they have to destroy the houses between thestadium and the old training ground

Yeah its borderline.I'd like it if they build a larger 60-65k in a new location.Even mif it would be on the outskirts,im sure it would be better than the Ataturk Olympic.

I think a new stadium would have a capcity of at least 70,000

Even this one was proposed to have 62,000 by having standing at the goal stands.
But in 2004 TFF changed the rule and all stadiums at the pro leagues had to be all-seater

Giving up a stadium located so well for 10-15k extra seats would be idiotic if not it will ruin the club...
Probably with high costs they can build 45° stands but they don't really want to expand now, they just announced the intentions to expand upon Galatasaray moving to the new Arena so they don't look like the smaller side, which is dumb, but at the same time, if they can sell 60k season tickets and sell another few thousand tickets for each game and even an 100k would go well I see no reason for them not to invest in an expensive expansion, even taking care of the houses around the stadium and the current parking lot.

Traffic could be problem for the expansion.
+ there isn't a sqaure for the fans outside the stadium. Its is also the reason why they built it a square above the parking

At the site i've mentioned you have a metro statin and the 6 lane highway and it is still inside the city.

But it would be hard for them.
Since 1907 Fener plays at that side (some season they played in Taksim or Besiktas stadium)
Kadiköy district is there home like Besiktas district is the home of Besiktas.

A very small upper tier that overhang the 2nd bigger would be very similar,if im not wrong with Twickenham. They can easily have 10 rows in the overhang, plus another 10 on the outside(there us space for like 10 rows there if you look closely on the aerials Sercan posted).Anfield's kop extens above the street also,it wouldnt be unheard of.

there is only one place for a new stadium in Kadıköy. Market Place... İt is a huge area also there are lots of old, dirty houses around wich will be a part of urban renovation projects. This market place is near Kaıdköy-Kartal metro line, Ünalan station. Metrobus' Fikirtepe station. It is also possible to walk there from the center, it is five minutes away from the current stadium and also on the two main roads, highway and bosphorus ring road.
