These new "local" street names are indeed useless, but they are all over "Emirates Living", not just JLT.. Moan to the RTA about it

Well, notice that all the new street names are Arabic words which suggests it's a kind of "this is an Arab country so we need Arabic street names" mentality. Be damned with the practical effect that using such signage which will only confuse most drivers. Logically, the main streets and signs should use the more recognizable English names--like JLT Boulevard--with the corresponding Arabic word printed alongside in Arabic--like the metro signage.

Someone came up with the great idea of street names to replace all of the numbered streets in Jumeira/Umm Suqeim like 42B Street and 21 Street.

Unfortunately, someone has taken things too far, and now no-one knows where they are going until they've been stuck in and endless loop a few times.

I don't understand Al Khail 1st Street. It's different to Al Khail Road which everyone knows. It seems to go from JLT to World Trade Centre but not consistently all the way.

I can see what they were trying to do and it's not a bad idea in principle, but I just cannot see the logic in having every street sign point to developments that have either been stalled for years or have barely been started.

Not sure any Arabic speaker would find them useful either TBH.. better to stick to "Western parallel Road" rather than "Al Sahel St." or whatever it is they called it.. But I dont really mind that, its the lack of signs to the communities that are the problem ("Lakes" "Springs" "Jumeirah Islands" etc all seemed to have disappeared once you leave SZR)
