Houston's Highway to Hell

Welcome to my drive into town:
Getting onto I-10 going East:

Beltway Interchange:

610 Loop:

DT from I-10, did the best I could:

Then hooked it north on I-45:

Put up the camera, and took it out again after my hearing. Here I'm getting back onto I-10 West from the Beltway:

Adios
..

Nice pics of Houston's traffic nightmares. Interesting shots. Probably some of your best work and i don't think you were even trying that hard. Were You?

RGV,
Great pics man. Although I live in SA, I travel to Houston about 3 times a year and dread I-10. At least the construction in Katy is under control but it's still a headache going into downtown. Thanks for the pics, they brought me back to some crazy trips.

If you take the I-10 west you get to Santa Monica. If you go east you end up in Jacksonville. The I-10 in Houston is the Highway out of Hell.

We still have traffic problems, mainly when a freeway is under constuction and 5pm on the East Tex freeway. But ya in comparison we have zero problems.

Well most of it is blocked off because of construction. That's why it may look "empty"

Anyways I-10 traffic.....story of my life......

Ah yes. I thought these pics were a trite bit misleading!

Gosh I love Houston and all of the pandemonium. I just got back and I was on Fannin over by Hermann Park and saw a bumper sticker that was kind of along the lines of Keep Austin Weird.

It said Keep Houston Under Construction.

jmancuso, you truly beat me to it!!! I had the very same thought. AC/DC's "Highway To Hell" is the best reaction to RGV's photos But, I will see your "Highway To Hell" and raise you with Judas Priest's "Heading out to the Highway" (the live versions of this song are better, in my opinion).

For those who do not live in Houston, this photo is of what we call "The Energy Belt" because those buildings house a large concentration of Energy Companies. This photo is 19 miles west of Downtown Houston. Pics of the Energy Belt "skyline" are rare, so it's nice to see the bulk of it (considering the corridor's tallest is mostly blocked and the second tallest is not in the picture at all).

From what I understand the construction on the Katy Freeway is on schedule to be finished within the next year and a half, and I can't wait. It's actually a very nice design asthetically for a freeway. I love those GIANT painted Stars on the side walls.

If you think the above pic is aesthetically pleasing, then you need to get out of Houston more.

Check out the parts that are actually finished (though I don't believe any of the planting has started). I love the color paint used for the freeway and the different artwork of the stars.

By the way, I posted the picture to emphasize the Corridor's skyline, not the freeway.
