So I was having a look at developments completed in the City of Perth over the past year and it hasn't been too bad, especially considering the economy is still quite weak:
Westin, Perth - 368 rooms
QT Hotel, Perth - 184 rooms
Melbourne Hotel, Perth - 73 rooms
Enclave, East Perth - 69 apartments
Aire, West Perth - 178 apartments, 64 serviced apartments
That's 247 apartments and 689 short stay rooms (there's probably some smaller projects as well).
Looking to next year, there's lots of developments currently under construction that are due to be complete in 2019. I'm not sure the City of Perth has seen so much residential/hotel development at once before.
Hilton Doubletree, Northbridge - 206 rooms (Jan 2019)
Hilton Doubletree, Perth - 230 rooms (who knows?)
Ritz Carlton, Perth - 420 apartments, 204 rooms (mid-2019)
Mantra, Perth - 250 rooms (late-2019)
NV Apartments, Perth - 401 apartments, 487 rooms (late-2019)
Verdant, Perth - 136 apartments (early 2019)
The Boulevard, Perth - 571 rooms, likely 700+ beds (Feb 2019)
Campus, Perth - 726 beds (Feb 2019)
Ibis Styles, East Perth - 250 rooms (2019)
Vue, East Perth - 247 apartments (mid-2019)
9 Tully, East Perth - 79 apartments (mid-2019)
Skye One Seven, East Perth - 42 Apartments (mid-2019)
If we’re being very optimistic and Hilton Doubletree on Barrack St is complete by the end of 2019 - that’s 1325 apartments, 1627 short stay rooms and 1400+ student beds. That's probably be another 3000-4000 people staying in the city each night - which is huge when you consider the population of the City of Perth is only 21,700.
