Maybe they should give that street up as 'lost' and just build a deck over the road instead of multiple bridges. At least then there would be some activated space between the busport, convention centre train station and city.

Yep, the bridges could be raised plaza's.

There are 2 major public spaces within earshot here though, so I can't see the government putting the money up, nor the private sector seeing any benefit from an investment like that.

I would instead encourage the City Of Perth to enhance the streetscape as much as they can with wall art to at least add visual interest to those passing through.

Need to wait a bit for the city Street Art, Sculptures by the Sea is a while off yet. I'm also pretty sure they choose pieces nobody would want to steal.

Might end up like the entrance to the Concert Hall. But the whole area around Ernst & Young could be better utilised, especially the forest garden at the busport in front of the convention centre.

My priority would be a deck over the freeway in front of Parliament House.

I was actually thinking a deck with shops, cafes etc around a central plaza that links the thoroughfares. Not just open space for the hell of it.

Including the convention centre forecourt the area would be at least a hectare (if the deck ran from the E&Y/Qaudrant skybridge to the Alluvion skybridge). If you estimate at least 50 per cent of that would be left open, that would provide maybe another 2000-3000m NLA which could be used for various shops, kiosks and the like. Given the value of that type of property in such a high traffic area, the deck would almost pay for itself.

it's weird.

makes you wonder why people can spend 10's of thousands of dollars just to do a semester duration course in corporate branding, product branding, marketing etc in tha biggest educational institution to get an "edge"; when it prolly doesn't matter.

then again, maybe that's what they want. their companies have much bigger brand presence anyway.
