It's not a rumour, it's somebody stating their opinion in an attempt to jump on the RIII bandwagon for what I can only assume is personal gain.

Sick of all the drama, just bury the poor bastard in Leicester and let it be!

One of the people challenging the find is Martin Biddle 'emeritus professor of medieval archeology' at Oxford. Not that I claim to know anything about the chap, but I know that Oxford has one of the most respected archaeology schools in the world, so this isn't a gratuitous claim, as you suggest.

You say just bury him and let it be, but how can they if there's doubt it's even him?

It's nothing more than academic squabbling.

There's far more evidence that points to it being the King than there is it being somebody else, their argument is based on pure speculation.

The thing is - the University only stated that it is "beyond reasonable doubt", that the skeleton is that of Richard III.

So if there is some doubt, then this puts an interesting angle on the Plantagenet Alliance claims. They say that even though the Alliance didn't exist before the body was exhumed, that they as "relatives" should have been consulted about where the reburial should be.

But if the identity has some doubt, then the argument should be that the body MIGHT be anyone. Every Caucasian on the planet would need to be DNA tested, to see if they have a match to the skeleton, so that they could be consulted fairly about the re-burial.
