Why not perfect everything else in Australia before we aspire to build the world's tallest building? A novelty that will always wear off. I'd much rather aspire to be like Manhattan or Europe or China/Japan.
I've been to Dubai and imo it's one of the most interesting (and classy) places I've been to. The service is first rate and everything is world class however I can understand that this may not appeal to everyone especially if you're on a budget. Btw, I've also been to the countries you mentioned so I can make an adequate comparison.

Dubai shits all over Melbourne although it is very hot and not a lot of greenery.

They have customer service, we dont. They have a working pt system, we don't. They have wonderful restaurants and hotels, we struggle. Decent shops, the pattern is clear.

End of story.

Makhtoum is an absolute legend.

You're ON the drugs pal - you obviously need something to deal with your outlook.

You think Dubai has better restaurants (number, diversity or quality-wise) than Melbourne!? You're a joke.

Makhtoum's an arse-wipe - making comparisons to other arse-wipes like George W and Howard doesn't change this.

Seriously, if you hate where you live so much then piss off somewhere else. Just mind the stampede from all over the world flowing in the opposite direction on your way out the door.

I think your username is pretty disrespectful toward now-deceased former SSC member muse....
