HMMMM..... it's OK, but not NBK's OK, many projects in this site did not get built at all, so we should wait more, and the idea of the design is amazing.

NBK acquires KD 52 million worth plot of land at Sharq area for new headquarters

National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) announced that it has signed a contract with the National Al Shaab Real estate Company by means of which the bank will acquire the company with all its physical and legal assets, including a plot of land at Sharq area which will be used to set up NBK's new headquarters.

The 52 million Kuwaiti dinar worth contract was signed at NBK head Office by Issam Al-Sager, NBK Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), representing NBK and the National Al Shaab Real estate Company's Chairman and Managing Director Bader Naser Al-Humaidi, representing the company, in the presence of NBK Capital CEO Salah Al-Fulaij and AGM Administration at NBK Mohammad Al- Khunaini.
The contract stipulates NBK's acquisition of the shares of the National Al Shaab Real estate Company with all its physical and legal assets, including a land plot owned by the company at Sharq area, against the company's acquisition of a land owned by NBK at Dasman area with an additional cash amount of KD 22 million.
NBK will use the 6,000 square meters acquired plot to set up its new headquarters in addition to an adjacent plot of land to be used as a parking area.
Commenting on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Al-Sager said, "The consistent expansion of NBK presence and operations calls for the need to build a new headquarters that accommodate the various groups and departments of the bank. This plot of land with its strategic location at the heart of the business district in Kuwait provides a premiere location to set up NBK's new headquarters that will stand as one of most prominent architectural monuments in Kuwait and an iconic tower designed and built according to the-state-art-of technologies to represent and project NBK's status as a world class bank."
On his part, Al-Humaidi said, "The land plot acquired by NBK featuring both spaciousness and strategic location at Sharq area is quite fit to accommodate a headquarters as grand and prestigious as NBK. We are happy to witness an iconic architectural monument for a renowned bank such as NBK being built on this land plot."

Disgusting.

One of the biggest financial institutions in the region with billions of dollars in assets is building THIS piece of sh*t as their HEADQUARTRS??

The perpetuation of building these cheap, plastic and tinted glass, made-in-china monstrosities is going to have a detrimental effect on the Gulf region. They will never age well and they will fall apart faster than people are imagining and, at best, we will just demolish them and build something cheap and ugly in their place and keep going in a viscious cycle untill our cities have no historical buildings standing and they will never have a visual identity because we hardly ever build anything worth saving, and at worst, we will no longer have the money to demolish and rebuild and we will have cities filled with crumbling, ugly, cheap, made-in-china ruins.

This building looks like it was designed by the assistant of the dude who designed Jam3iyat al Shamiyya (the ultimate in ugly, cheap, made-in-china chic). I actually sometimes think that these plastic buildings aren't designed by an actual PERSON....maybe some sort of computer program?

I'm sorry, but this issue is important to me and just the audasity of some ppl on here who say we should demolish 40, 50, 70 year old buildings so we can build more ABSOLUTE TAT like this is just mind boggling.

Eeeew! OF COURSE Saleh al Qallaf "designed" this. He's the devil lol.

A hustler masquerading as an architect...what a ruinous man.

I'm sure NBK didn't even approve of this "design", he's probablly just sending out PR blasts to the internet in the hopes of winning this project.

Well said, KWT.

I have to agree that Saleh Al Qallaf 'designs' [and I use the term loosely] some of the most hideous buildings that have come up in Kuwait. Plastic-looking steel cladding, cheap tinted glass, some of the tackiest and most boring designs ever; I'm genuinely left wondering if any perceivable shred of effort went into these structures.

Another local architectural criminal/butcher is Nizar Al-Anjari. Dear God, where do I begin? I'm sure you're all aware of [or at least seen] the Ramada Plaza that's currently on hold at the Fahaheel Expressway and the Fourth Ring Road. That monstrosity is a nightmare. I think he was going for a classically cliché Kuwaiti fortress motif, but when you stretch that vertically onto a twenty-story structure in a bizarrely questionable location with construction materials that didn't cost a cent over twenty dollars, you've truly got a rotten feast for the eyes and a headache par excellence. A sickly yellow tower and an orange stone base permeated by shiny blue glass - what is this? Really, what is it?

Don't even get me started on the Mirqab Twin Towers. HorribleSovietcommieblockfail.

What a waste of space. It's a shame that we have no reputable urban planning department or Municipality that genuinely cares about the direction this city is going in or the architectural identity it's assuming.

Sigh.
