Japan is the most rail heavy country in the world as a primary means of transportation which all these ranking people simply forget so they can gloat about it on Internet forum.

Hell my local line here in Osaka which is considered "commuter rail" by Wikipedia is far more reliable, clean and at basically the same frequency as NYC metro lines.
Ya it's arbitrary but someone is going to draw up a classification for it anyways. People opposed to the classification (in a ambiguous spectrum where no classification is correct or incorrect) are just upset that they don't get to gloat about it on an Internet forum.

As long as people are aware that this definition of "metro" does not make sense in a Japanese context than that's great, that is all I'd like to point out. In my experience most people have no idea about the urban rail in Japan other than the so called "metro systems"....and that is pretty evident from this thread.

There are far bigger problems with the wiki lists that don't even have to do with Japan but that is way more trouble and way off topic. Just an example are some American systems classified as metro despite their frequencies etc and some European ones are not.

Zodiac Memorial tickets over the years are one of the most anticipated theme pursued by subway fans and collectors. Guangzhou Metro opened in 1997, has opened operation of 10 lines, and "Rooster" is just the tenth in the Chinese Zodiac. Therefore, the Dingxian Rooster Lunar New Year special commemorative ticket with the traditional culture and the Guangzhou Metro Development process is introduced to the public , meaning "subway for the Guangzhou speed, hatching open a new milestone."

Year of the Rooster Memorial Ticket price :RMB 100 yuan / set, limited edition of 1000 sets .

The distance Guangzhou North-Guangzhou Station on old railway line is 27 km.
How many stations exist between Guangzhou and Guangzhou North?

it's nice that these new stations look a little (not much) different from the older ones. i rode the metro in guangzhou almost every day for three months and the similarity of the stations was depressing/confusing. while the signage is pretty good, when a carriage is very crowded, looking out a window and recognizing a station by sight and not sign is very useful. sometimes, i'd disembark at one station that looked identical to another, and then instinctively proceed to where my brain sensed an exit would be, only to find myself in a hall or something! that could never happen in paris or montreal or even here in san francisco, the stations are all unique.

Just to get an idea about how well the new extensions are performing. On New Years Eve Line 6 phase 2 section carried 104,000 people, Line 7 carried 169,000 people and the new Guangfo extension carried 10,000 people. Note these are peak numbers but I can see them being normal ridership numbers as demand matures by the end of this year.
