Replacing entertainment venues with more offices risks an "all work and no play" scenario discouraging a high income workforce from locating to the city.
Theres a cinema no more than a 5 minute walk away from this site already (which I hear is getting a renovation next year) so I dont think it will have much of an effect. Of course having a proper event center will add the level of recreation activity in the city but Cork is still one of the few places in the country where you could find something on every single night of the week if you so wished. I often find Irish people to be lazy in their attempts to get out and find something to do, Iv been guilty of it myself.

Just a quick update on this, BAM have now revised their plans to exclude the cinema, viewing tower and Brewery museum for more office space and apartments. You'd have to expect the event center zone will follow suit in the next few months.

Typical that viewing tower exclusion from the plans is the biggest downfall for me here I think

I can't see why Coveney would still be tweeting like this if it was already decided. I'd say that it's still up in the air.
