Welcome to Steelers Country: A tribute to Pittsburgh

Here's some downtown Pittsburgh shots from Super Bowl Morning... Pittsburgh has one of the most architecturally diverse downtowns in North America. Countless historic architectural styles are represented.

one of Pittsburgh's most beloved mayors

PNC's recently constructed FirstSide Center... one of PNC's many "green"-certified structures

Congratulations on the Super Bowl MVP, Hines Ward

Duquesne University rests on a bluff overlooking downtown

Pittsburgh's Chinatown

The Smithfield Bridge (1883) connects downtown to Station Square

the historic Mon Wharf

Construction begins on an 18-story condo tower next to the Monongahela River

Mt. Washington is visible beyond this remnant of an old bridge

an 18 story apartment building nears completion next to the Allegheny River

the aforementioned PNC FirstSide Center... with Duquesne University in background... and Pittsburgh University's Cathedral of Learning visible in the distance

Goodnight from Heinz Field... home of the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers!

What a great city... it saddens me to see so many vacancies though....

But anyway, go Steelers!

perhaps the best Pitt tour I have ever seen here at SSC.

congrats to the Steeler on the super bowl, we'll see you again next year in Buffalo for the AFC championship game, which we'll win. lol

Pittsburgh is a nice looking city, feel for it though...sure looks kinda empty in places.

Very nicely done, Evergrey. Can hardly wait for Pittsburgh come next month. Downtown looks amazing, I'll have to take that tour the company I am going by in offering. Congrats from me to the Steelers as well. Neat that they have GO STEELERS as a Graffiti form there. I guess it was a Sunday, reason why there is no foot traffic downtown.

you are right, Jaybird... it was SUNDAY FREAKING MORNING! So enough with the "it's so empty and dead" comments...

It was Sunday morning... the wind chill was brutal... everybody was either at church or in their favorite bar getting ready for the Super Bowl... and yet... the downtown was still rather active... there were plenty of people walking around wearing the Steeler colors...

but if you notice... most of these shots are NOT street-level shots... they are architectural detail shots...

On Tuesday there was over 250,000 people at the Steelers victory parade downtown.
