Riqualification of Porta Palazzo Market (Piazza della Repubblica)

Porta Palazzo is a short distance from the centre. It has urban and architectural assets which are extremely rich in history and memories: from the entrance gates to the Roman city, to the boundary walls, from the baroque buildings to the examples of protoindustrial construction, from the urban spaces designed according to the aesthetic and prospective criteria of the 1700s to the corners of the city that have evolved spontaneously from the relationship between built space-empty space. However these "urban resources" are frequently threatened by lack of care, degradation and uncertainty that bring about the situations that compromise the quality of life, of work and the accessibility of city space. Much has been done in recent years to improve the built environment in both public and private space, but much still needs to be done especially in specific interventions and in a more capillary method with the aim to invest in the precious inheritance offered by the neighbourhood resulting in a more substantial quality.

Centro Palatino - (M. Fuksas)

Designed to replace the existing building (built in the sixties) in the system of the market halls of the square, the Palatino is a glass building that houses the business activities related to clothing. Above the parking, designed to bring out the pre-existing ice stores, there is a large inner square where are set up some shops. The first floor has a balcony criss-crossed by walkways, which have the explicit role of deconstructing the complex space. The last level with a terrace, is dedicated to the catering market.
The facades are composed of a series of strips of opaque glass alternated with lamination steel staves.

This is an excellent thread! One of the best we have so far in this new forum.

I have a favor to ask though, can we make separate threads for all renewal projects in this beautiful city from now on please It will be easier on the search engine and I have all threads nicely organized so don't worry about things getting cluttered!

Great city, great projects! I have to visit this beautiful city. I heard about new project being approved by city authorities in district called Continassa if I'm not mistaken. Any details on this?

I have to thank you so much for these appriciations! I'm glad to know that people around the world like Turin!

About the separation of the projects in different threads, I think that one of the "ingredients" of this thread is that it shows the renewal route followed from the city, from the Winter Olympics 2006 to nowadays.

However, as you asked, I will try to create one thread for one project. It will be a new challenge for me!

P.S.: About Continassa project. The area of Continassa, in the north of the city, has been bought by Juventus F.C. in these days. It is an area near the new Juventus Stadium and it will host the headquarter of the society and other services.
I will post something about this when I will have more informations on the project!

its not really a district, but just a block next to the Juventus Stadium, where Juventus wants to build its head office (renewing an old farmhouse) plus the training center for the first team and some additional facilities (residential buildings, cinemas, a park etc)

here it is:

Thanks normy and loslurpsullasinistra for some info on Continassa. But I heard that there is also city project joint with Juventus FC apart from headquarter and training center - new residential areas, etc.

Do you have any pictures from when the Continassa Farmhouse was operational?
