He got a park name after him.

It is probably the only airport in Australia that is named after a person.
It was in 1953 it got its current name, and that was after people wrote letters to The Sydney Morning Herald suggesting that name.
Find out why Sydney has become the city that it is today:

Toowoomba airport builders eye Badgerys Creek
The family business behind the Brisbane West Wellcamp airport near Toowoomba has put its hand up to build Sydney's long-awaited second airport.
The proposed new airport for western Sydney, to be built at Badgerys Creek - about 50 kilometres west of the CBD - came a step closer this week.

Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister Warren Truss on Thursday announced he had lodged a referral for the environmental impact statement with federal Environment Minister Greg Hunt.

"I think that we're perfectly placed to build Badgerys Creek - or at least lead a consortium - and if we can do the second range crossing at $1.7 billion, we can certainly build another airport," Mr Wagner said.
"There's no rocket science. It's just a job to do."
Mr Wagner said the construction of Brisbane West Wellcamp, which was built in just 18 months, showed Wagners was well equipped to build Sydney's second airport.

A spokesman for Mr Truss said the owners of Sydney's existing Kingsford Smith Airport had first right of refusal to build the new airport.
He said negotiations with Sydney Airport Corportation had started on October 1 and were expected to last about nine months, but the federal government was confident construction would start in 2016.

DT is reporting today that the runways will be 4km long and run parallel NE to SW.
I guess this takes the flight paths over the Reservoir to the north and less densely populated areas to the south.

side note. During last night's storm rolling in from the west, I watched plane after plane race to take off to the north before the storm hit. Each plan rush to get out before the curfew and they rapidly banked right, still trying to gain altitude as they passed over Central/Surry Hills/Potts Point. It was pretty cool to watch with the massive storm dominating the sky.
Regarding just_me_again,
And on that note, piss off NIMBY.

This is not an architecture forum nor an urban planning. Not an artists or aesthetes forum. We are not the activated podium club nor the preserve the parkland brigade, though many of our posters have interests in all these topics and different views.

But we all like tall buildings. This is a tall building forum. Skyscrapercity. The name couldn't be more plain.
