It s in the hands of the Indonesian people themselves to get rid of all 'negative ' image.

a lack of discipline makes things worser.( a clean Jakarta , free of the terrible traffic jams , clean rivers , rivers should not be use as a garbage bin )

I'm not suprised at all. Everytime I go home, my asthma starts to act up. Doesn't happen anywhere else that I've visited.

I always thought it was Bangkok, Mexico City, Jakarta. Maybe Bangkok improved the pollution significantly.

I'm doubtful about this. Not because I'm biased or I'm native Jakarta (born and raised there). But this is Mr Governor saying that in attempt to apply (see I dont use word 'impose') new regulation of banning old cars from Jakarta Street.

Dont get me wrong, I totaly agree with the policy, but he needs to show figures before saying that. Yes figures, dont we love figures

I've seen Jakarta ranked as the 3rd most polluted city in the world on many occasions, not just by Sutiyoso.

I am in Bangkok now and I can tell you...it has definitely improved a lot in the past 10 years. Bangkok is now actually quite clean and comfortable. Transportation is also very good with the BTS and the subway running through the center of town. It is certainly not as dusty as it used to be.... and with the new airport coming up, you can bet Bangkok standard as a city is very much improved.
