Vivanta Trivandrum.

Previously functioned in Vazhuthacaud, Vivanta is now in a new, modern property near Palayam & the Vazhuthacaud property is now a premium business class hotel Hyatt Regency which has the biggest Presidential and Diplomatic suites.

IHCL has other premium properties in Kovalam, Varkala & Kazhakkoottam in Trivandrum.

I feel this is down grade from the previous property they managed. The owners should get additional surrounding land to give a green canopy around the hotel.

The Taj Vivanta Thiruvananthapuram is a stylish and sophisticated city hotel located in the heart of the capital; it is the ideal city pitstop for business travelers and leisure seekers alike with much to tempt the gourmet as well. The Vivanta Suite is the city’s largest and most luxurious and one of the most sought after residences in Thiruvananthapuram.

Located in the busiest city of Thiruvananthapuram, the property hosts a total of 108 rooms. This includes the Presidential Suite, Executive Suites, Suites, and Rooms – which are unified by the signature Vivanta blue furnishings, and further adorned by abstract artworks on the wall that reflect the brand identity.

Was there not a large hotel project in Kovalam? Anything happening there? We need more capacity to get mass tourism come to our coastal areas. I am off to Cancun next week, that coast is peppered with large capacity resorts, All-inclusive for 5200 EUR (37% discount) for a week for 2 adults and a 5 year old. That is the kind of business we need to get for our destination as well.

You mean expansion by Raviz? Nothing much is being said about it these days. Not sure if it's dropped.

Leela Raviz Kovalam completes 50 years in world tourism map

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 18 (UNI) The Leela Raviz Hotel in Kovalam, an iconic mascot of hospitality that has marked both Kerala and Kovalam on the world tourism map, has completed 50 years of excellence in serving guests and tourists worldwide around.

Hotel Ashoka, which started operations under the Union Tourism Department in 1972, stands tall as Leela Ravis Kovalam today. Ashoka Hotel Kovalam was privatized by the then-central government in 2002. First, the M4 Group and then the Leela Group acquired ownership of the hotel.

In 2011 Dr B. Ravi Pillai, a notable NRI Businessman and Founder Chairman of RP Group bought the resort from Leela Group but left the management of the resort with The Leela Group.

The resort was rebranded as "The Leela Kovalam a Raviz Hotel' and was popularly referred to as The Leela Raviz Kovalam. In 2017, further to the orders of the High Court of Kerala the custodial rights of the Kovalam Palace and adjoining 4.21 acres of land were handed over to R.P Group. In 2018 RP Group renovated the 4 Royal Suites of the Palace by taking its opulence to the highest level and making the Palace the most luxurious accommodation in Kerala.

In my understanding, this was on the cards for some time. Good to know that the expansion is taking off.

Presently they have considerable open space and greenery, distinctly different from many 5 star premium hotels. Do they have enough land to maintain the present ambience, post the proposed expansion?
