With SC Global planting its flag there, it should be. It will be interesting to see how this affects the developer's asking prices for the remaining units at The Marq.

Simon Cheong used to say that ONLY Orchard Road was the profitable area. Look, no more land, so he build in Cairnhill?

Cairnhill can be considered as another segment of Orchard?

Orchard Scotts is even further down Cairnhill but bears the "Orchard" name.

I think Cairnhill is just as much a part of Orchard as Ardmore/Draycott are.

SC has not got the financial means to be like CDL. However, if SC buys up a block of their own apartments in partnership with a fund like what CDL did, you can certainly SC is very confident of the market and the only way prices will go is up north for those areas these funds bought in.

Why share potential profits with others if you think prices will rise. Simon is one guy that will maximise his profit and dont share with others.

CDL may have couple of reasons to sell to fund

- prices not going up much further
- redeploy cash into other devt.
- reduce debts
- planning to pay div on ord and pref shares
- got other better opportunities

ditto for SC.

Then it's bye bye old Hilltops. It was quite a architecture marvel in a way - architect Victor Chew designed it such that no unit could look into the other.

honestly, I dont think so. If an architecture cannot stand as a marvel on its facade and structure, who cares about the internals.

It was a marvel on the exterior too. It'll look better with more glass, but during that time, the trend of having a lot of glass had not reached our sunny beaches yet.
