And i even not talking about A320 Family and new SSJ planes, they will get 5-7 new planes every year. According to their strategy, their fleet should be more than 200 planes until 2015, average plane age is 3,5 yrs. In 2012 Aeroflot plans to open 20 new routes.

Yakutia to Operate Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky – Anchorage in S12 instead of Vladivostok Air.

Update at 1000GMT 08FEB12

As per 08FEB12 Amadeus timetable and airline inventory display, it appears that Russian carrier Yakutia is the operator for Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky – Anchorage service, due to operate from 12JUL12 to 13SEP12, on board Boeing 737 aircraft. The airline is now accepting reservation for this route.

Previously reported on this site on 13JAN12, Vladivostok Air is to operate this route, however the airline did not operate Boeing 737 (although at time the post went to press, this site assumed the 737 would be coming from AEROFLOT Group) nor it opened reservation to date. Further, Yakutia’s schedule is identical to Vladivostok Air’s. Therefore, this site, based on assumption once again, believes that Yakutia is the operator for this service.

Additional follow-up posts will be made available when further changes appearing in the reservation system.

ATW's 2012 Airline Market Leadership - Transaero Airlines

The 2012 Winners:

Airline of the Year - Air New Zealand

Value Airline of the Year - AirAsia

Regional Airline of the Year - QantasLink

Airline Technology Leadership - ANA

Passenger Service - Etihad Airways

Airline Market Leadership - Transaero Airlines

Since its inception, Transaero Airlines has tenaciously dedicated itself to raising safety and service standards in its domestic Russian market. This privately owned airline has continuously achieved above-market growth rates while posting healthy profits since 2002 and establishing itself as Russia’s second largest carrier in terms of passenger numbers.

Transaero launched services in November 1991 and developed at a pace that has exceeded the market growth rate by several times. Transaero is now Russia’s second largest airline in terms of passengers carried and RPKs. Passenger traffic registered a compound annual growth rate of 38% between 2003 and 2010—more than three times the rate of the Russian aviation industry as a whole. Transaero flew 6.6 million passengers in the first nine months of 2011, up by almost 30% over the previous year.

The company turned a profit in 2002 and has returned a profit every year since.

Transaero serves 116 routes from Russia to Europe, Asia, Africa and America using a fleet of 75 mainly Boeing aircraft. It added 12 aircraft in 2010 and 16 in 2011 and will take delivery of 12 this year as it pursues its fleet modernization and expansion strategy.

Transaero is an airline of firsts in Russia. It was first to acquire Boeing aircraft; first to be awarded an air operators’ certificate following the collapse of the Soviet Union; the first 100% privately owned passenger airline; the first to introduce business class on domestic routes; first with a loyalty program; and first full-service airline to introduce e-ticketing, online check-in and mobile check-in.

CEO Olga Pleshakova, the wife of Transaero’s founder and chairman Alexander Pleshakov, has a Ph.D. in technical sciences with a dissertation on how to apply Western-quality standards to the Russian aviation industry. Pleshakova was appointed CEO in 2001, securing another first when she became the country’s first female airline chief executive.

Last year, Transaero placed orders for four Airbus A380s, four Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental aircraft, and eight Airbus A320neos plus four options, making it the launch customer for all three aircraft types in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe.

All Transaero aircraft have a full business class where seat pitch on its narrowbodies is 50 inches. The carrier’s ‘Imperial’ first-class seats turn into full flat beds and economy passengers are served a meal, even on one-hour segments. The carrier sticks to a full-service approach and permits golf and ski equipment to be checked at no extra cost.

Transaero Airlines has not had a single aircraft accident.

Transaero’s winter schedule serves 116 routes in Russia, Europe, Asia, Africa and America and includes 28 domestic scheduled routes, 28 international charter routes and 60 international scheduled routes to major hubs such as New York JFK, London Heathrow, Beijing and Hong Kong.

A superb safety record and dedication to implementing Western standards in the Russian airline industry, a track record of achieving above-average growth in spite of state-owned competition and the challenges of obtaining traffic rights, and a commitment to future expansion make it highly fitting that this year’s ATW’s Airline Market Leadership Award goes to Transaero Airlines.

MAHB in talks with Russian airline

MALAYSIA Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is in negotiations with Russia's S7 Airlines to commence flights into Kuala Lumpur.

It is understood that the airline will either depart from Novosibirsk or Khabarovsk.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Ng Yen Yen, who revealed this at a press conference recently, said that this would add to Transaero Airlines flights from Russia which started to ply the Moscow-Kuala Lumpur route once a week from December 30 last year.

Transaero will increase its frequency to twice a week from March this year.

Ng, who was announcing the latest tourist arrival figures and projections for 2012, said that Malaysia hit a record tourist arrival number of 24.7 million in 2011, but missed its target of 25 million.

The ministry has also not made a higher projection than it did for 2011. Both the ministry and Tourism Malaysia have set a very conservative and exact 25 million target for 2012, largely attributable to flight cancellations by Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia X.

S7 Airlines is part of the Oneworld Alliance, which MAS will also be joining.

Transaero to Start Moscow Vnukovo Service from July 2012

Russian carrier Transaero starting 01JUL12 is starting operation out of Moscow Vnukovo airport, with flights to Blagoveschensk, Magadan and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Schedules and details regarding VKO as follows.

The airline today held a joint press conference with Vnukovo airport, which sees UN some of its Moscow Domodedovo operation to Vnukovo. UN claims Domodedovo Airport’s development rate is unable to match the airline’s. Moving selected flights from DME to VKO will free up capacity at DME in the interim. The airline also reached an agreement with Vnukovo Airport to build MRO hangar to faciliate UN’s Boeing 747-8I and Airbus A380 aircraft, which suggests high-capacity long-haul service will eventually move from DME to VKO, although the airline claims this is “under consideration”.

As of 21FEB12 GDS timetable and inventory display, UN has opened reservation for Moscow Vnukovo service. Based on schedule listing, it appears that the airline choose to add new flights on existing market out of VKO instead of DME.

My travel agent called and said that they are offering $840.00 RT for June while Aeroflot is @ $1,300.00 I want to wait a bit and see if Aeroflot will drop prices once they see a decrease in passengers. I would over pay $200.00 for Aeroflot. But $500.00 is a bit too much.
