October Vilnius construction update

Seems like the last one was a long time ago, let's make a new one

Center of Registers and "Vėtrūna" tower(s*)

The perimeter is almost done

Here should stand the tower(s)

* According to the newest plan, the tower was split into 2. It was done after heritage protectors declined to sign the detail plan.

(c) Romas

Helios tower

The final height is 27fl and this should exceed the limit of 100m

Vilnius gate

We still don't know wheather the complex height will be 12 and 17 fl, or 14 and 20fl

Closer view

2005 09 26 (c) Romas

A state building beside

ˇirmūnų-Kareivių building

16floor residetial is as well seen in the distance, this one will be mixed

BCC2

The building is almost done

Vilnius gate is also seen

Overview

Kausta residentials

The first 23fl tower is already at 21st

Didlaukio residentials

1st 16fl tower, the 2nd, lower one, is still not U/C

ˇvalgų residentials

Pretty commieblockish, but still high enough

Some smaller updates

9fl Office building near the "Glass pencil". The crane was set up today

The plot is seen on the right

A residential in Naujamiestis

"U˛upio valda", a project in suburb of the oldtown

The building of electricity was renewed

9-11fl building in Jeruzalė

Mall "G9" went on reconstruction (ex-municipality)

Site of mall "Panorama". They are again waiting for something (hint, the builders are Estonians )

The palace of rulers

Reconstruction of City Hall square (c) Romas

Reconstruction of part of Gediminas avenue was finished

"Vyrokas" does some dorm reconstruction

... and many many more unpublished

Some fresh (perhaps) construction works are seen near the "green ugly skyscraper" near Saltoniskiu bus station. What's that?

Nice to see what has changed meanwhile. Number of high-rise buildings under construction is just insane.

Wow!!!! This is impressive. Vilnius goes vertical. Two towers of "Registru centras" on the model look quite interesting - may be that's not bad idea at all to build two lower highrises instead of one high. This will help as "infiller" for the district.

Oh Mantai, I must say this was your best construction update ever! Seriously, pictures are exceptionally well made
Helios looks impressive and very tall even though the back facade worries me a bit, hopefully it will be ok in the end. Also the Registru Centras site looks huuuge!
Maybe it's just me but looking at these pictures it feels like there are lots of construction going on in Vilnius. I wonder how it all looks in reality. Well I'll spend a few days there in November and visit some construction sites (among other things which I'll do in our beloved capital city ). Thanks so much for this update.

Btw, this is beautiful! This must be the best housing project in Vilnius ever

"Seems like the last one was a long time ago"

Yeah, I also notice now that half the Lithuanian SSC community has packed its bags and moved to London, we don't get that much of Vilnius anymore

A year or two ago, it was a totally different situation

If you mean this one, it's going to be a 9fl ~6000m2 office building.

That's pretty complicated, Once this winter I counted and it was near 20 highrise buildings U/C. Some of them were finished so the number might be lower than that

Yep, some panoramas were changed unrecognizably, I really hope this trend will keep up

Hehe, that's what we all agreed in Lithuanian forum, that two lower towers might be even better that one tall, but unpredictable to get built

Thanks I'm pretty sure we'll organize another meet-up on occasion of your arrival

Ahh, I forgot adding one more interesting project. Currently some 200mx100m plot of old huts is being cleaned and we as well heard that "a skyscraper" is planned there. This project is some 800m from Europa Tower.

Heh, that's a pretty nice one. Great to see that there is more than just hirises planned to Vilnius. That 8-floorer actually reminds me a little bit about an eleven-storey office mid-rise that is planned to Leppävaara. Those curvy shapes are pretty cool.
