I'm not sure what to make of it yet; as BUG says, much better than the initial renders, but i still think it's lacking considering the bulk of it and it's prominent location. Perhaps once the clutter is cleared, and the little harbour restored, a few trees planted it will look well. It possibly also suffers because the horrendous Maysfield prison is more prominent when viewing from the road.

Yeah, hopefully they make it pleasant enough out the front. Would be good just to see some seating for employees and the public. It's such a nice location infront of the river.

Maysfield really is a shocker. Is it actually listed? That is one that should have been demolished. We are knocking down the wrong buildings. The mind boggles!

Right, with the exception of the slipway which now forms part of the building and has been filled.

The marina steps will be refurbished and the basin refilled after construction works;

Landscaping plan;

No, it's not listed. It's not protected in anyway so no idea why Concentrix are saying it is.

This is a building that looks better from a distance hopefully the signage when it goes up will give it a small bit of character.

Anybody know if it's possible to set up email/SMS alerts on the local planning portal (or something) so that if a planning application is submitted in a certain radius of a specific location, you get alerted?

I don't think that's possible, as far as I know. They are planning to change the online portal to make it easier and more user friendly but not sure that sort of service is planned.

Piling rig on site at the Montgomery Street apartments... have they come up with a more inventive name for them than 'M-Rise' yet?

There's so many reasons to pop into town these days and there's always a bit of progress somewhere, so plenty of opportunities to keep up with it all!

Radio Failte are moving to a new build a few doors down from Divis Tower. The outside seems to be complete and it will look like this

The Midland Building beside Yorkgate Halt has been demolished. The area will be redeveloped over the coming few years as part of a new Yorkgate station and commercial development.

The area is also to host a new community garden and Groundwork NI will partner Translink in providing that new local amenity. Work is due to commence on that soon.

Kind of a shame that area is a shadow of its former self, in a large part due to roads to be fair. I believe Laurel and Hardy stayed in the hotel in the early 50s.

Strange to think York Street was thought of as being part of the City Centre.

Not just the roads in fairness. The area had some massive employers such as Gallagher's Tobacco and large linen mills. The loss of those industries combined with the roads, Sailortown demolitions and Troubles led to the decline of the area.

Yorkgate station is junkie and drug dealer central. Great that they're tidying it up.
