Anyone other than Ferguson is a downgrade regardless of United fans trying to state otherwise. No other manager has his motivational ability, consistent tactics and presence. I think United have arrived at a key juncture and it will be interesting to see how they adapt to Ferguson's departure over the next couple of years.

Moyes is a risk. Hasn't won anything at Everton, no European experience. Klopp would be ideal, believes in youth in the same way that Ferguson did in the early years. Mourinho likes to be 'bigger than the club'. It works clubs like Chelsea and Inter but at Real, United etc. he's struggled. Txiki Begristrain interviewed him for the Barca job in 2008 and wasn't impressed.

I think it dawned on Ferguson - an English team will not win the Champions League in the next 3 years, I can leave on a high and there is a good group of players which shouldn't be too hard for the new manager to manage.

And Fly: shut up! From a Blue.

If only you had not said that!

Last 8 years: United, United, United, Chelsea, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Liverpool in the final. I would say an Englishclub is more than 75% likely to win the big cup in the next 3 years.

"Taxi" did not rate Jose! Well was he the power at Barca! Obviously you are implying he is all knowing at City now? Did he interview Roberto in 2008 as well?

Feels weird and devastating...
It was expected but can not believe it. Sir Alex was there before I was born, all I have ever known, it is an end of an era.
I joked today but I bet there will be some truth in it, I will be that lonely randomer in the park going on about "remember those days". Feel well old.

Moyes- European experience, there is none. He has not won any cups. If he does get it as he seems to be the favourite, good luck and we'll see.

Mourinho- Does not like to stay anywhere for too long. He certainly has European experience but would like to see him manage a club with little money and no big stars.

Klopp - ideal but he has no experience of the EPL. That is one thing Moyes and Mourinho has/have...

Utd should appoint Michael Laiudrup. League tiles and the double with Brondby, Copa del Rey finalists / UEFA cup quarters(losing to B munich) with Getafe, won FA Cup with Swansea.

Plays exciting attacking football and consistently overachieves. Fluent English. Contacts at major European clubs, who he played for.

Whats not to like?

Don't believe in many things until it is confirmed. A friend of mine told me that it is likely to be David Moyes since his daughter sort of being telling people.. so...

Not sure if this is true or not.

Brendan Rogers has Liverpool 7th.

Stick on our squad and £100m to spend and a monkey could challenge the top 4..... keep saying it.... Rafa, Jose, Tinkerbell2, Villas-Boas,Ancellotti, Hiddink, Avram, Scolari, Wilkins, Roberto...... all kept Chelsea collecting trophies, with in comparison to United's spending power not too much cash (excluding the initial outlay to super-power them into the top 4.

I doubt United are going anywhere soon from the trophies and perhaps a new manager will focus on trophies other than the title and Euro cup and we can get past Liverpool's total, which is still higher than ours. Bah.

You mean the Football League Cup.

Hardly the same thing.

David Moyes have been confirm as new Man Utd manager on six year contract.

Quote:
David Moyes: Manchester United appoint Everton boss

David Moyes will succeed Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager on a six-year deal starting on 1 July.

Moyes, who leaves Everton after 11 years in charge at Goodison Park, was Ferguson's recommendation to succeed him as manager at Old Trafford.

The 50-year-old was out of contract at Everton at the end of the season.

What do Man Utd fans think of this appoint, do u think he be right men for United or would u like to seen Mourinho become the new boss?

Not sure how I feel about Moyes.

Granted he has done well given the financial restraints of Everton.

But, he hardly won anything, no European Experience, and that worries me.

Hopefully this summer, we may see signings cos all I was hearing up till now is rumours.... and that put some hope in me. All I can sya is I wish Moyes luck and want him to prove my doubts wrong.

Mourinho would have been great but would he have stayed for long?

Not convinced myself for the usual reasons....lack of good Euro experience, won nothing but hey let's give the guy a chance.
Mourinho would have stayed only till he got told to stop wasting money.

Good choice. Potential for a long term great manager is higher with Moyes than many of the other names bandied about.

Not concerned about lavk of European experience. You learn over time, and he's shown he has a great, adaptable mind.

Indeed. He has way more experience than Wilf McGuinness and Frank O'Farrell had.
