Well, "ugly" is a matter of taste, and not everyone would love to live in a place as crowded as Dubai Marina. Maybe Dimethyltryptamine prefers architecture like this.

They are certainly not the best looking of towers.
That cluster should be vastly improved once the pentominium, infinity tower and hopefully damac heights are done.

At least the Gold Coast has an excuse... they're old. What's Dubai's excuse?

With that said, I rather a cluster of OLD Gold Coast buildings to that.

Thank u for the diagram! Two things:
- The "9" of the date a flipped over "6", isn't it? Would be a foreseeing otherwise...
- 23 Marina at 320m is still hard to believe, although this matches with the renders. But the tower appears smaller to me than Torch and even Ocean Heights, somewhere between 300m and 310m only.

I'm guessing that they have nobody lined up to live in those towers?

The native population of dubai probably isn't wealthy enough/lives in a very cheaper place in the old areas of dubai. The massive immigrant population of Dubai is dirtpoor and has basically been used like slave labour. I don't think they are able to live here.

With that in mind, the only kind of person I can think of who would want to live in Dubai is a wealthy muslim, because its probably the best place to live in the islamic world. Even then, i'm sure there are some muslims who find Dubai repulsive, considering its flaunty and excessive.

Nobody in there right mind would immigrate to Dubai from America or Europe if they have money. I mean, i'll admit it, the concept of Dubai is wonderful. Its this Disneyland of skyscrapers and cool buildings in the desert. However, its not exactly the most democratic society, its a huge difference in culture from the west, and the reality is that its a desert, its hot, and if the world ever enters a food water crisis, you don't want to be isolated in the desert without food and water. Why risk that, when you can get a nice apartment in New York or Paris or wherever.

Good point. This Imre pic of March 2nd is no close up, nethertheless there has been improvement: I think the top formwork went up, compared to late February... but only for about half a floor.

No offense but if you disagree with my opinion why not give an intelligent rebuttal, rather than some niave fanboy attempts at an insult. Not trying to start anything, but discussions on forums generally go much better when instead of trying to be the "cool kid" with the sassy comments, people actually give legitimate responses.

Just ignore him. His head is so far up his own ass he's never seen the light of day, let alone the architecture that surrounds him.
