No. They may be big and ugly, but they're historic at this point, not to mention some of the best office space in the city.

I don't think 30 story ugly junk built in the 60's is iconic or historic.

There are about 40-50 floors, not 30.

The only one of the three I don't like is the one on the left, with pretty questionable proportions. The other two look just right; they're huge and imposing. They define the view from Brooklyn at night!

Also, the best thing about that shot is 1WTC and 4WTC are both visible.

A part from buildings, Don't you find this avenue ugly? Sidewalks seems in a pitiful state, there are too many traffic lights because of the bad town planning?

No, not at all. Sidewalks break and get repaired constantly. The traffic lights are a necessity when your city is laid out in a grid like Manhattan is. Knowing how they're timed helps. With that knowledge, you can, theoretically, go from Chelsea to Harlem without hitting a single red light. I've done it a few times.
New York City is a city of contrasts; rich and poor, old and new, mom & pop and chain stores, clean and gritty, expanses of concrete and parklands, etc. Those contrasts are what make New York City unique. There is no other city on this planet like it.

I can't agree about rich and poor. Mumbai has really grate reach and poor contrast, so New York doesn't.

this part of the sidewalk you are referring to seems to be an entrance to a gas station hence it is lower than the rest.

No, but all the sidewalk is horrible, in disrepair.

Ok, but it somehow disfigured the landscape! It's not beautiful.

Without the traffic lights, my friend, there would be ugly accidents and an uglier condition known as "Gridlock". Gridlock is a state of severe road congestion arising when continuous queues of vehicles block an entire network of intersecting streets, bringing traffic in all directions to a complete standstill. It is a truly ugly thing to behold.
