Application Number - PL/INV/3542/13 Site Address - Vine Street Depot Land bordered by Chatham Street/Myrtle Street/Vine Street Liverpool Merseyside L7 7EW Proposal - Application for planning permission for redevelopment of former depot site comprising demolition of all existing buildings and structures on the site and selective boundary walls in Vine Street and Myrtle Street, followed by erection of two blocks of residential accommodation to construct 114 apartments, site car parking, landscaping, amenity space and associated external works Applicant - (blank)
This is the site in question - http://binged.it/1dgfWSn (Obviously it is an older image, as the site is now over the road from the Vine Court Eco-residences).
Good to see the development of Myrtle Street continuing.
..yes, and in this particular case jane´s pic shows us a mixture of the traditional, the new, the imposing, different scales and sizes and abundant greenery in between which makes it a perfect cityscape
A closer view of the brickwork, and a look at the steelwork on one of the projecting sections - https://flic.kr/p/RwzZX8
After the disappointingly long wait for what turned out to be an equally disappointing building with Phase 1 (visible to the left), this is better - https://flic.kr/p/Ru51Mh
I'll admit that while the scale and massing are right for the area, and the design is not particularly objectionable in any sort of way, this isn't one I can get too excited about - https://flic.kr/p/UyuLhK
Side elevation. As an aside, that blue car you can see in the bottom left. I have never seen someone shunt a car backwards and forwards so much, even though it wasn't a particularly tight spot, only to end up with the car parked askew to the kerb line, and half over-hanging the H-markings in front of a loading bay - https://flic.kr/p/UaWhcb
it is got about 10 storeys high, which makes it very visible and it is looking ok already, fits well in that area....what is really disgusting is that particular blue fiat, whatever happened to the once so highly regarded italian craftmanship and styling
There was none in the original application. Then they submitted a change to include shops all along the bottom. I think the ground floor flats would have been hard to sell privacy issues.
I objected to this, with Myrtle parade and a couple of empty units on Vine court we didn't need more.
So they seem to have put in an undercroft, perhaps for parking. The lugs sticking out the front are from bolt on balconies. So the front isn't finished yet. Hopefully, they put some decent height greenery between the trees and the building.
The group behind it were the Eldonian Group, they seem to switch back to the Via Verde scheme and had another go at that, also the Eldonian group prides itself on its social credentials and knocking down the building would have been well looked upon. http://eldoniangroup.com/about/
It was me who put the application for listing in. It is in a conservation zone and the council did give it a good write up.
I had a look at the site and the last version of planning app and it does appear that there are 2 commercial units planned for Vine Square. This is half the retail they wanted.
Helf is worse than none IMHO. That bottom pic is looking from Myrtle, Chatham is on the right with shops, vine on the left with Car park.
Going to need to knock down the semi-detached around Brampton Dr to get the numbers up enough, but that would be no bad thing.
It's next to the university, which itself is one of the most central in the country.
