I saw a beautiful art installation in the Telus Building downtown in the area known as South Core. The lighting changes constantly to all colours:

Also I checked out part of the new extensions of PATH system:

That's a step up from most of the PATH tunnels I've seen. Toronto is becoming a city built on 2-3 levels instead of just at grade. As the population density in the core soars, PATH will move beyond being an escape from extreme weather but much needed route capacity for pedestrians. Our sidewalks and streets are only so wide. Building out PATH, the subway, and even above ground routes will allow for more density than we'd otherwise be able to build.

Isn't Hong Kong multi-level already?

I like King West, but I'd like it a lot more if the building apron was 10-15 floors instead of 3-8 floors. It always feels under built when I walk on streets with proportions like this. Proportions like one sees in Winnipeg's Exchange District is close to urban perfection for me. Even there, it could do with a couple more floors on each side.

That's actually King East at Sherbourne. But I agree, a stronger streetwall is needed along these major downtown avenues.

@Christos - Damn, you're quick! You post my photos before I even have a chance!

Love all those "West" streets downtown... King, Queen, Dundas, College.. all wonderful with their own distinct character.

I must say that is a stunning photograph!!! Great finds, Chris!!

I do too. I hope they manage to maintain their vibrancy and charm as they undergo intensification. It is coming so we all have a vested interest in finding a successful way to do that.

We won't see high rises here, but mid rises are popping up on all of our major retail arteries outside the core. I hope locals see the benefit in them. All of these strips will prosper with increased density and investment.
